{"id":7302,"date":"2014-07-30T09:29:34","date_gmt":"2014-07-30T08:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7302"},"modified":"2014-07-30T09:29:34","modified_gmt":"2014-07-30T08:29:34","slug":"wireless-isp-county-broadband-helped-200k-colchester-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/07\/wireless-isp-county-broadband-helped-200k-colchester-council.html","title":{"rendered":"Wireless ISP County Broadband Helped by \u00a3200K from Colchester Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wireless ISP <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/isp_list\/ISP_Detail_Wireless.php?CountyBroadband-62\" target=\"_blank\">County Broadband<\/a> has secured \u00a3200,000 worth of funding from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.colchester.gov.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Colchester Borough Council<\/a> and the new investment will be used to help serve local businesses, but sadly not homes, with access to superfast broadband speeds of greater than 30Mbps (Megabits per second).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The investment forms part of the <strong>South East Local Enterprise Partnership&#8217;s<\/strong> (SE LEP) recently allocated \u00a3442 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/local-growth-deals\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"color: #227ab4;\">Local Growth Deal<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, although building of the new network isn&#8217;t expected to begin until early (Q1) 2015.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Jim Leask, CBC&#8217;s Senior Enterprise Officer, said (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutmyarea.co.uk\/Suffolk\/Sudbury\/CO10\/News\/Reviews-and-Features\/276099-Superfast-broadband-on-the-horizon-for-companies-in-Colchester-after-%C3%82%C2%A3200k-funding-boost\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Colchester Borough Council has been working to deliver truly superfast with County Broadband, our local business partner. The bid sees the borough council co-investing with County Broadband, using this welcome Government grant, to make a step change for local businesses in accessing the internet at lower cost than otherwise, supporting their growth and building their workforces. This forms a key element of the borough\u2019s economic growth strategy and brings 21st century benefits to Colchester\u2019s business community<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last year the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelmsford.anglican.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #227ab4;\">Diocese of Chelmsford<\/span><\/a> also selected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.countybroadband.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #227ab4;\">County Broadband<\/span><\/a> to help fill in some of the Internet slowspots and notspots around <em>Essex<\/em> (England) by allowing them to build a new 32Mbps (Megabits per second) capable network via local churches (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/10\/wireless-isp-fill-broadband-notspots-essex-uk-using-churches.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The new network is designed to complement the regional <strong>Essex Superfast Broadband Project<\/strong> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/bduk\" target=\"_blank\">Broadband Delivery UK<\/a>.
