{"id":7392,"date":"2014-08-12T10:42:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T09:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7392"},"modified":"2014-08-12T10:43:04","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T09:43:04","slug":"jt-celebrates-10000th-jersey-fibre-optic-broadband-customer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/jt-celebrates-10000th-jersey-fibre-optic-broadband-customer.html","title":{"rendered":"JT Celebrates 10,000th Jersey Fibre Optic Broadband Customer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jtglobal.com\/Jersey\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #227ab4;\">JT Global<\/span><\/a> (Jersey Telecom) reports that some 10,000 customers have now subscribed to their 1000Mbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ftth\">FTTH<\/a>) broadband ISP network on <em>Jersey<\/em> (Channel Islands), which is up from 8,479 in June and\u00a07,600 in March 2014.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gigabitjersey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #227ab4;\">Gigabit Isles<\/span><\/a> project is currently aiming to roll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/ftth\">FTTH<\/a> out to around <strong>42,000 premises<\/strong> (990km of new fibre optic cable) by the end of 2016 (plus 5,000 on Guernsey), which will eventually be used to replace the islands aging copper line based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/adsl\">ADSL<\/a> broadband services.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Newbold, JT&#8217;s Gigabit Director, said: &#8220;<em>We are absolutely delighted to have reached this very important landmark in our Gigabit Jersey programme which is already revolutionising the way Islanders use the internet and bringing many advantages for Jersey.
