{"id":7415,"date":"2014-08-14T10:31:55","date_gmt":"2014-08-14T09:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7415"},"modified":"2014-08-14T10:31:55","modified_gmt":"2014-08-14T09:31:55","slug":"uk-isp-plusnet-youview-tv-trials-going-well-still-eta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/uk-isp-plusnet-youview-tv-trials-going-well-still-eta.html","title":{"rendered":"UK ISP PlusNet YouView TV Trials &#8220;going very well&#8221;, But Still No ETA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">PlusNet<\/a> has informed ISPreview.co.uk that their 8 month old customer trial of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/youview\" target=\"_blank\">YouView<\/a> (IPTV) based broadband TV service is &#8220;<em>going very well<\/em>&#8220;, but sadly even after all this time they&#8217;re still unable to give any indication of when a commercial launch might occur.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The service was first mooted last year after the ISPs parent company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>, suggested that they wanted to develop a lower cost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/youview\" target=\"_blank\">YouView<\/a> service in order to take on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/tt\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TalkTalk<\/a>&#8217;s rival product (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/11\/bt-hints-youview-iptv-service-plusnet-broadband-users.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">PlusNet<\/a> had already been experimenting with just such a service internally and this was soon made available to their existing customers (i.e. those able to achieve a<strong> 15Mbps minimum<\/strong> download speed and with a working TV aerial) via a trial (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2013\/12\/uk-isp-plusnet-extends-youview-tv-trials-unlimited-fibre-users.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The customer trial itself finally got underway at the start of 2014 and ISPreview.co.uk has recently heard rumours of a Q4-2014 launch, although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/plusnetuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">PlusNet<\/a> said they &#8220;<em>have not confirmed commercial launch dates at this time<\/em>&#8220;.
