{"id":7784,"date":"2014-10-10T11:26:28","date_gmt":"2014-10-10T10:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7784"},"modified":"2014-10-18T07:09:26","modified_gmt":"2014-10-18T06:09:26","slug":"sky-broadband-uk-warns-phone-line-rental-price-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/10\/sky-broadband-uk-warns-phone-line-rental-price-rise.html","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE2 ISP Sky Broadband UK Warns of Phone Line Rental Price Rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As expected <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-86\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/bskyb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"Sky Broadband\">Sky Broadband<\/a> has started warning customers that the price they pay for phone line rental on their broadband bundles, which is currently set at \u00a315.40 per month, is set to rise just like <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-145\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"BT\">BT<\/a>\u2019s will on 1st December 2014.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately Sky are being their normal cryptic selves and have so far only explained the plan by using the following choice of wording: &#8220;<em>Sky\u2019s line rental price will increase on 1 December 2014, but will remain cheaper than <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-145\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"BT\">BT<\/a>\u2019s standard monthly price of \u00a316.99 a month (from 1 December)<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if they added an extra \u00a31 and made it \u00a316.40. Sadly Sky, unlike many of other big ISPs, scrapped their pre-paid line rental discount scheme earlier this year and so customers have no choice but to pay the standard rental price. Credits to <a class=\"shortlink shortlink-130 shortlink-chref\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/thinkbroadband\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"thinkbroadband\" data-chref=\"https:\/\/www.thinkbroadband.com\">Thinkbroadband<\/a> for spotting this update.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE 16th October 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As predicted Sky have now confirmed that their line rental will be increased to \u00a316.40 per month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE 18th October 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sky has informed of some other changes. Sky Voicemail (1571) will now cost \u00a31 per month (it was previously free) and the standard connection fee for voice calls (i.e. those outside of any free allowances) is now 15.9p (previously 15p).
