{"id":7962,"date":"2014-10-31T09:27:09","date_gmt":"2014-10-31T09:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=7962"},"modified":"2014-10-31T09:27:09","modified_gmt":"2014-10-31T09:27:09","slug":"bt-staying-tight-lipped-new-bundle-netflix-broadband-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/10\/bt-staying-tight-lipped-new-bundle-netflix-broadband-deal.html","title":{"rendered":"BT Staying Tight Lipped Over New Bundle Netflix and Broadband Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s consumer broadband and phone services in the United Kingdom will soon be able to bundle Netflix&#8217;s popular unlimited Internet TV and Movie streaming service alongside the ISPs broadband, television and phone products, all as part of a single bill.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The news slipped out yesterday as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s latest quarterly financial results (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/10\/bt-tops-7-47m-broadband-customers-fttc-covers-21m-uk-premises.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), although most people didn&#8217;t notice because it was hidden deep under the usual mass of financially focused gobbledygook. &#8220;<em>We continue to focus on strengthening our TV proposition and are excited to announce we have entered into a partnership with Netflix that will allow our customers to sign up for Netflix alongside our other products and services, with the added convenience of paying on one bill directly through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a><\/em>,&#8221; said BT&#8217;s report.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly BT wouldn&#8217;t be the first provider to bundle in a <strong>Netflix<\/strong> service (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vm\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Virgin Media<\/a>) and thus we were keen to know precisely what sort of proposition the provider had planned. We also queried how the approach of having a single bill would affect both existing Netflix subscribers (i.e. those who might prefer a single bill and that also have BT at home) and those who might wish to leave BT&#8217;s service, while still taking their Netflix account with them.
