As predicted last month the consumer division of BT has today announced the launch of a new package that bundles the ISP’s BTInfinity<\/a> 1 (FTTC<\/a>) superfast broadband connectivity with their YouView<\/a> product (TV Starter Pack) and access to Netflix all integrated into a single bill from \u00a35.99 per month (first 6 months).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to BT, customers signing up to Netflix with the TV product will see Netflix integrated into their BT bill (we did check and BT confirmed that the \u00a35.99 bundle price does indeed include the cost of a standard Netflix subscription). Meanwhile customers who are already signed up to Netflix will also be able to watch the service on their YouView<\/a> (IPTV<\/a>) based BT TV set-top-box.<\/p>\n

Incidentally the free YouView box that BT supplies for this particular bundle appears to be the new mini box (DB T2200<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Delia Bushell, Managing Director of BTTV & BTSport, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Our new package will give customers even more unmissable content. Customers will be able to enjoy must-see Netflix shows and original series like Orange is the New Black and Marco Polo, free BT Sport with live Barclays Premier League, the latest movies to rent or own from BT Box Office, and more Freeview catch-up than Sky. We\u2019re delighted to be offering our customers a wide range of must-see content at a great value price and with the convenience of a single bill<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Following on from the announcement last week that BT will be allowed to carry Sky Sports 1 & 2 on its BT TV YouView boxes, there has never been a better time to take up BT\u2019s fantastic new TV service<\/em>.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At the time of writing we couldn’t see the new package on BT’s website, although the press release does reveal a little more about how this bundle is priced. The \u00a35.99 package is based on BTInfinity<\/a> (FTTC<\/a>) being offered free for the first six months along with the BT TV Starter Pack. BTInfinity will then become \u00a315 a month taking the cost of the bundle, including access to Netflix, to \u00a320.99 per month (18 month contract term).<\/p>\n

One other bonus of all this is that, just like any service offered through YouView for paying BT TV customers, watching Netflix on YouView will not count towards your broadband usage. This is important because the BTInfinity 1 package that BT bundles above is actually their bog-standard ‘up to’ 38Mbps capable BTInfinity 1 option, which only gives you a tiny usage allowance of 20GB.<\/p>\n

Also be warned that after the 18 month contract is up then the cost of the BTInfinity 1 with TV Starter pack and Netflix package jumps to \u00a328.49 a month. Activation of \u00a330 is also charged for BTInfinity or \u00a349 activation for BTTV & BTInfinity (plus \u00a36.95 delivery for Hub). The press release makes no mention of phone line rental, although we assume it\u2019s also payable from the equivalent \u00a313.32 per month (i.e. when pre-paid for a year in advance).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
