{"id":9872,"date":"2015-08-10T10:32:39","date_gmt":"2015-08-10T09:32:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/?p=9872"},"modified":"2015-08-10T10:32:39","modified_gmt":"2015-08-10T09:32:39","slug":"uk-isp-bt-launches-app-to-help-customers-manage-their-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/08\/uk-isp-bt-launches-app-to-help-customers-manage-their-account.html","title":{"rendered":"UK ISP BT Launches App to Help Customers Manage their Account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Customers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a>&#8217;s consumer broadband and phone services can now monitor the network status of their local area, remotely reboot their HomeHub wireless router, get support and manage their accounts online via the new <em>MyBT<\/em> Smartphone app for Android and iOS (iPhone) devices.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The app will work over either your home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wifi\">WiFi<\/a> or Mobile Broadband connection and also includes tools to help optimise a customer&#8217;s broadband connection, including testing broadband speeds and restarting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> Home Hub remotely.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/wp-content\/gallery\/2015-article-illustrations\/my_bt_app.jpg\" alt=\"my bt app\" \/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/britishtelecom\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BT<\/a> claims that they are the &#8220;<em>only broadband provider to offer these tools via an app<\/em>,&#8221; although <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/go\/vodafoneuk\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Vodafone<\/a>&#8217;s recently launched Home Broadband service (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/2015\/06\/vodafone-connect-unveils-new-uk-home-broadband-isp-packages.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) also includes quite a capable companion app.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"bq1\"><p><strong>Steve Wilson, Digital Director at BT Consumer, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>The My BT app makes it easy for customers to keep track of their BT account. We see a significant increase in the number of customers accessing the My BT website on a mobile device. We know that our customers lead increasingly busy lives and wanted to offer a smartphone app that gives them a helping hand in dealing with straightforward BT queries at a time that is convenient to them<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently BT intends to add new features to its app &#8220;<em>on a regular basis<\/em>&#8220;, with additional account management and help functionality expected to be introduce over the &#8220;<em>next few months<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>At this point some customers might be feeling a bit dizzy with all the apps on offer from BT, such as those for their SmartTalk service, BTSport Player and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ispreview.co.uk\/index.php\/link\/wifi\">WiFi<\/a> connectivity. One app to rule them all should perhaps be BT&#8217;s next focus, provided you could fully disable any unwanted battery sucking features.<\/p>\n<p>You can grab the new <strong>My BT<\/strong> app from <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.bt.btserviceapp&amp;hl=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\">Google Play<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/app\/my-bt\/id979618672?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">Apple iTunes<\/a>.
