Broadband ISP TalkTalk UK has revealed that the average British child (aged 5-15) spends 130 minutes per day online, 36 of which are spent doing something their parents’ would disapprove of. One in four kids also say their mums and dads have absolutely no idea what they get up to online.

Mobile operator O2 UK has announced new investment worth hundreds of millions of pounds over the coming years to help extend the coverage and capacity of its Mobile Broadband network. The process will involve both building and upgrading 1,500 base-station sites around the country to improve upon its 85% 3G HSPA coverage and keep up with growing data demands.

Phorm, which controversially works worked with UK broadband ISPs (e.g. BT WebWise) to monitor what websites you visit for use in targeted advertising campaigns, has now lost its Managing Director (MD) after Nick Barnett departed the firm. Phorm has been unable to cement support for its service after BT , Virgin Media and TalkTalk appeared to shelve adoption plans. Phorm has confirmed the departure but is not commenting further.

Instead the Digital Economy Bill, which contains the real meat, will be touted in parliament today and revealed in full tomorrow. Only then will we learn exactly how the government plans to go about imposing its "three-strikes" system for disconnecting "suspected" illegal downloader’s from their broadband ISP.

Broadband ISP O2 has issued a small but interesting network status update that concerns the performance problems with their Home Access broadband product. Home Access, unlike their superior unbundled ( LLU ) service, is BT based and often receives the brunt of customer complaints.

Mobile operator O2 UK (Telefonica) has updated its Mobile Broadband and computer bundles with the newer Asus Eee PC1005H Netbook (worth about £200) and the Samsung R519 laptop (worth about £380); both available on a 24 month contract with 300 free txt messages and unlimited Wi-Fi Hotspot access.

Mobile operator Orange UK (France Telecom) has come top for Mobile Broadband in YouGov's latest Dongle Tracker survey of 4,417 adults, of which 2,181 used Mobile Broadband by means of a USB Modem (Dongle) or datacard. The result somewhat dethrones rival T-Mobile from the top spot of YouGov's earlier surveys.
