Broadband Satellite ISP Avanti UK, which will launch the first of its new HYLAS series (HYLAS 1) satellites into earth orbit tomorrow, has increased the download speed of its forthcoming service from 8Mbps to 10Mbps and rubbished the need for games to have low latency connections.

BT Wholesale UK is cutting the minimum broadband download speed supported by its "super-fast" FTTC service from 15Mbps (Megabits per second) to just 5Mbps. The move is designed to increase the footprint served by FTTC and reach more homes.
