New figures have revealed that, by the end of Q3-2010, the world was home to 508,761,837 broadband ISP subscriptions (lines), which is an increase of +2.88% (14.3m lines) on Q2-2010. The overall year on year growth rate stood at +6.7%.

Critics have attacked BT Wholesale's new Content Connect (BTCC) product in the UK. The service aims to handle the growing demand for broadband internet based TV services by caching popular video content on an ISP's own network. Some fear that it could also be used to break the principal of treating all internet traffic as equal.
