Aquiss - Worst third rate isp eva in 6 years

Firstly, i await the fanboys, people who had no problems, there staff (who have attitudes) flames so light it up.

This is just a post, explaining what my experience was with them, so im sure other have had it better, others possibly agree however i have no idea who they paid off to get them to the top (ish) of dsl zones ratings, im my opinion they are a third rate isp, with about 3 staff who do everything, billing, support, customer care etc ete....nice multi tasking.

Anyway migrated in, gone from a home line to a business line. I got disconnected around 2ish on the morning, when i reconnected right away, my modem reported my new business line upload and the same solid 8128 with 14snr to play wiht avail.

My old isp account worked but i noticed a slow down from my nntp speed as i was dl some nntp and when it reconnected it carried on after a bit however the speed dropped around 2mbit of what i usually pulled.

anyway thought it was possibly rambo doing some testing as i moved onto a business product, i remember my upgrade to 8mbit took a hour and half or so to sort itself out.

I have setup my pop3 and ftp but you have to email (why??) suppose they safe on pop3 accounts and ftp space with customers who dont use these services. but why could they not have setup with the new account.

Also i rang them as i needed pop3 asap and left a message on there number (they only have 1 number to contact everyone) but no call back...

they claim there support responses are top notch, i think they must be pulling the data from the sky as they are not the averages they are claiming or they just dont like me.

Well after 3 days and 3 emails i finally got my pop3.

now after doing some investigation on this and other forums many users have the same issue with the speed doing only 4.5mbit, they said do speedtests etc etc and then come up with the usual 3rd rate isp responses, its my equipment, the exchange, my dogs snoring etc etc.

Then if you also want to sign up to there full members only (where there complains are so people looking at joining only see the nice stuff) you need to email them.

There systems also say i havnt paid, but the strange thing is i provided my paypal transaction number to the same person why said i havnt paid who emailed me bakc letting me know he has allocated it to my account.

In all honesty, there attitude stinks and comes over in there emails to me, perhaps its just me or perhaps they dont like me but who knowsm, they just seem arrogant and obnoxious, typical with a small isp who has there head sin the sand.

Now, i await to know what is happening with my mac code, and my money, i will update you all afte ri hear anything.

Again, to the fanboys./reps etc etc i am just posting IMO, which is not the same as yours so flame away.

PS: if i get cut off (why would that happen unexpectantly) spread the word people!

Hi Hardcore Hustler,

Looking at your post... I'm not a customer of Aquiss and to be fair this is the first real complaint I've seen about them, I am myself considering joining. So I guess I could either take what you have said with a pinch of salt not knowing Aquiss's side of the story or I could take what you have posted as the Gospel Truth.

I have considered Aquiss, mostly on the good reviews I’ve seen and to be honest I’m more sensible to be swayed by one review alone.

As for your speed problems what speed was you on before with your old provider and was that ADSL max? I know a lot of people from a lot of ISP’s are not getting 8mb and that’s why ISP’s have been forced to change their marketing to up to 8mb.

I emailed Aquiss the other day for information and received an email back from Chris, ok it took a few hours but I guessed that would be fair saying so many people seem to be joining them at the moment.

The pop3 and web space set-up seems a little strange however saying that I know I’ve never really used my ISP’s email or web space which I suppose I should saying I’m paying for it although I’d rather my email account not sitting their collecting spam and junk if I don’t use it. I suppose if it took 3 days to set-up your web pace/email then that does cause come concern, however I also expect that maybe because they are busy and it might be seen as lower priority.

As for being cut off I got that a lot when I migrated over to ADSL MAX, they kept saying that it was down to line training, in fact after a few days it stopped so it may be the case, but I’m of course unsure in Aquiss’s case.

I suppose that the locking of member only material is a good thing for forums, especially if it’s material regarding the customers.

Anyway these are my thoughts, take or leave them…

Aquiss

I agree with everything you say about Aquiss Hardcore Hustler it is definately the worst ISP I have been with as well, I have had problems since I joined them, I am on the 8Mbps MAX package and having just managed to get back online again I have just done another speed test and got a speed of 1.7Mbps,

Yesterday after doing another speedtest and getting a speed of 1.6Mbps I sent them an e-mail to inform them and complain about the very poor speeds and continual disconnections I was still receiving, (I am frequently disconnected for several hours at a time) and the reply I received and I quote (I must refer you to the Mac Key we supplied to you the other day) I find not only disgraceful but petty and childish, Aquiss had just taken my second monthly payment of £31:99p for an 8Mbps Max package and because I had dared to complain about the appalling speeds and service I was receiving from them that was their reaction they chuck the toys out of the pram, just about sums them up really I thought Aquiss might be different but they are just another run of the mill ISP who doesn't deliver what the customer is actually paying for and then blames everybody else

Please folks, post reviews as well as forum topics if you have gripes, it helps to offer a far more balanced picture and rating. Thanks.

Entanet (who supply Aquiss / Freeola / ukfsn etc) are having problems with load balancing on their centrals at the moment. I'm with Freeola, and yesterday afternoon the speeds were awful - pages would take ages to load or wouldn't load at all.

Have a read through some of the posts over at ADSL Guide: http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=entanet

Pay particular attention to posts made by "boggits" and "ukfsn".

Thier 3rd central is due at the end of next month. Just hope they sort out the load balancing in time for its arrival!

Just to balance things out, I've been with Aquiss since the beginning of the year and have yet to experience any of the problems that you claim everyone at Aquiss is experiencing. I'm getting 5.5Mbps, which is exactly what BT predicted I would get.

I'm sure the above posters know that BT won't even consider looking at line faults until users have been connected for at least 10 days. What do you expect Aquiss to do?

If you had read my post properly you would have noticed that I stated I had just paid my second month's payment so it's well after the ten day training period,

BT have checked my line internally and externally and it is also new wiring and I am only 620 metres away from the exchange and according to BT pratically next door to the exchange, there is not a problem there and neighbours are getting full speeds,

Aquiss told me that BT state that I should get 8128 Mbps and every test I have done including BT's says I should get speeds of 6.5 to 8 Mbps and I am getting speeds as low as 1.6Mbps and continual disconnections so I am not getting the speeds BT predicted am I , the problem lays fairly and squarely at Aquiss's door and there is no exuse or justification for the e-mail reply I received it was and is disgraceful,

Aquiss is the worst ISP I have been with the service/support has been apalling from day one, I am pleased that everything in your garden is rosy but it certainly isn't in mine and where on any post apart from yours does it say that everyone at Aquiss is experiencing problems,

Hi Red Rebel
I have read your posts and it might help if you posted some tracert and ping results so we can see if it is network congestion or something else.

Try pinging and tracert to www.bbc.co.uk
I get this on my connection

Perhaps a few other Aquiss customers can do the same so we can compaire them.

I assume it is a line fault as he is getting disconnected.

However If a speed issue with the ISP is suspected, then I would suggest running BT's performance tester using the BT speedtest login which connects you direct to BT's test server via BT's network completly bypassing your ISP and compare the results with another BT speedtest run shortly after the first while connnected using your normal login.

Username: speedtest@speedtest_domain
Password: ignored

URL: http://speedtester.bt.com

It will also give you your current IP rate.

Note: This speedtest does tend to get busy.

Hello Kits and Mel I have already done ADSLGuide BT AND Aquiss speedtests which Aquiss have already got ,I have already requested a Mac Code and I will be leaving them as soon as I find another ISP,

I have become very disillusioned with the whole internet experience it seems that ISP's can take your money provide you with an abysmal service and it seems to be regarded as normal, in any other industry they wouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

Red Rebel,

If you have tried the above i.e. use the BT speed test login:

Username: speedtest@speedtest_domain
Password: ignored

Which you will need to use instead of your AQUISS settings on your router or on your PC.

Then as posted above the problem would not lie with Aquiss, it would be your line at fault!

I’m also guessing by your posts here that this may of already been suggested to, and now can understand the reply you received from them, because quite simply even the calmest of people get a tad annoyed if they have continuously repeated themselves.

Maybe I’m wrong, I am sorry if I am, but it would help if you explained what else Aquiss explained to you, or if they provided any other possible solutions?

Also who you spoke to and on how many occasions?

This all helps!

Hello Sharpy 1982 I have just done another BT speedtest at 08-13 am and got a speed of 5728 Kbps and my line has been a lot more stable and apart from one test yesterday at 3841 Kbps I have more or less been getting these speeds for the last 24 hours,

I have not changed anything at my end for the speeds to suddenly jump like this and as I had previously stated I have had BT here and they have checked the line internally and externally, when I was with Blueleaf on the 2Mb package my line was excellent the best ISP I have been with, it was when AQUISS changed me on to the 8Mb Max package that everything went pear shaped,

I went live with AQUISS on Thursday 28th September 2006 and until Tuesday the 10th October 2006 my line/connection with them had been as steady as a rock at 1.8Mb, as I had signed up to the 8Mb Max package paying £31-99p and the ten day training period should have been up on Sunday the 8th of October 2006 I contacted them on Tuesday the 10th of October 2006 to inform them, obviously I was still on a 2mb connection and within approximately 15 mins my line went pear shaped and has been the same up until yesterday Sunday 5th November 2006,

In my dealings with Aquiss I believe I have not done or said anything to warrant the reaction I received, and personally I don't think anybody could have blamed me if I had also got a little annoyed at paying £31-99p for the service I was receiving,

If you do decide to join Aquiss I hope everything goes OK! I am currently looking for another ISP and when I find one I think I will revert back to a 2Mb package

If you read back loads of members had months of speed problems with their ADSLmax on the training period, some was caused by keep rebooting the routers quickly instead of waiting a while before reconnecting. If you like i can search for all those who had longer periods of unstable connection while extended training.

I also did a teast on different speed testers and browsers with Aquiss I find opera shows a slower speed than you are actually getting FF and IE give almost the same. ADSLguide the speed changes a little depending on browser IE and FF again giving the faster speed.
Havent found one yet that gives the same speed in all browsers.

If you are through your training period it might be best to give the line a month or so to see how it goes.

Was this connected using your aquiss login or connected using the BT Test login in you router?

If you connected using the BT test login, your ISP has absolutley no effect whatsoever on the results of the test.

Also what was the IP profile (BRAS) of you line as reported by the test.

If you using a usb modem consider getting a decent router.

Hmm, BT re-activated my line under two months ago, they sent out a BT ADSL engineer to work on it too. Currently I have a line fault - disconnections; very high attenuation; SNR hovering around zero; can only get a sync when I make a phone call etc. I've previously had an intemittent line fault which only caused a serious problem on the voice connection, it took several call out by various engineers each of whom thought they'd found and fixed the problem and a few years for an engineer to find the real source of the fault (a flooded junction box with rotted wire) - I've a nasty feeling the last BT engineer swapped my pair that had by then been thoroughly fixed and tested with those of a neigbouring house that's been vaccant for over 6 months as the attenuation initially went down by 1db after his visit. Oh and despite all of this I had a reliable 1 mbps ADSL connection for over 18 months (apart from one single period of a few hours when it disconnected frequently) even while the phone was dead or unusable - I seriously doubt max would be so reliable though.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I haven't rung my ISP's support department yet, it is because I'm with AOL and the fault isn't bad enough to trouble myself with them

Something that really pi$$e$ me off is how you Red Rebel can blame the ISP for the problem it shows me you don't have a clue how the internet and ADSL works if I was you I would be reading the BT SIN documents on how ADSLmax works before shooting your mouth off on a public forum.

This is a case of little know how very dangerous.

YOU asked for the product change before you looked into what was different and needed for ADSLmax, YOU was the one who wanted the upto 8 meg so YOU could do downloading etc faster, I DO know that Aquiss wasn't happy at putting people on ADSLmax yet but YOU the customer always knows best don't you.

What really p---es me off is people like you who are not having problems making such stupid assumptions about me and which are way off the mark (You was the who wanted the up to 8meg so you could do downloading etc faster) I am not a heavy downloader and never have been,

I AM PAYING £31-99p for a package that an ISP is advertising, AND IF YOU DO KNOW they are not happy at putting people on ADSLmax they should'nt be selling it till they are happy should they,

And what has the reference to unlimited-dsl and darren got to do with anything that I have posted.

chill redrebel

The unlimited is in his sig so everytime he posts it is there nothing to do with you or your posts.

Its hard to help someone who is on the deffensive all the time.

If you did check some of the things Mel has asked it helps members to pinpoint the problem and perhaps help to get your connection sorted out.

People are only trying to help no need to flame them for it.

Answering these questions could bring you some help from others who have had similar problems

Thanks Kits I appreciate what you and Mel are saying but I made my original post because I agreed with everything that Hardcore Hustler said in his post and as I said earlier I am looking for another ISP so help is not needed,

I use a modem/router connected by an ethernet cable

Good luck with your move to another ISP might be worth remembering the MAC number only lasts 30 days.
