Good afternoon,
Our Gloucestershire village has typical <2mbps (if at all) via aluminium/copper to a distant, non-fibre, cabinet, served by a fibre enabled exchange.
We have a long-standing promise (over 3 years ago) from Fastershire for Gigaclear: enough said.
A month ago, to our astonished surprise, the road through the village was closed, and a Swedish team of contractors laid conduit in a microtrench in the roadway from c. 2kms. away (?to a dark fibre connection), and Openreach followed up with some cable threading into the conduit (a very helpful Openreach engineer), and a team from utilities to fashion/modify selected pole base manholes. Checking Openreach website gives no information re plans for FTTP for the village, and even an escalated question via their chat-line has returned no plans. At the very least this is discourteous of Openreach, as the village was subjected to an absolute closure for over a week, with no explanation. Why Openreach so secretive?
Anyone know a tame mole in the upper reaches of the organisation ?
