Ping - B525

Hi all

This last week or so, I have noticed that webpages are taking longer to load. Speedtest shows d/l around 50 to 70 with an upload of 17mbs. However ping settles at 70ish, which used to be 30ish. Is this external and beyond my control, or can I alter this myself?

thanks.

I think with those speeds, and without any data on signal strength to hint otherwise, then it may be on the external network itself. Have you done any traceroutes to see how traffic is passing between your network and through mobile operator's?

The same thing has been happening to me for 2 to 3 weeks, it's all ways between 3 and 5 in the afternoon, with sites taking 4 or so minutes to load, and then it clears up and is fine again.

That's interesting, as for me, it is all day! It's certainly only happened over the last week or two, but it makes a big difference to browsing. I did try to lock the bands to see if it made any kind of difference, but this has not helped.

Hi

No I have not as yet. I will do as suggested and investigate further. As a side line, my primary and secondary DNS are blank on the router. Is there a recommended setting for this?

Thanks

DNS servers wouldn't affect ping. Blank probably means it automatically uses whatever the internet provider gives.
You could set it to open dns: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 or Google, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or cloudflare 1.1.1.1

Well I've found that my problems only happen when I use the Indeed website, it's slow to change pages and if I try using another site at the same time, it's slow to load and runs slow when changing pages as well.

Closing and restarting the browser puts it right.

What if you use one browser for indeed and another for everything else, is the "everything else" browser also slow still ?

Found the issue after a friend said I could try his SIM card in my router. He is with EE and mine is Smarty (3). With his sim, the ping was 26ms, with a d/l of 91mbs. Web pages are loading quicker, with no noticeable lag. Put mine back in and ping is 70, d/l of 70mbs but very noticeable lag. He however pays nearly twice per month than I pay. I do suppose you get what you pay for!

I experimented with this on Friday night, Chrome is the browser I normally use, and it's Chrome that is causing the problem, Indeed works fine in Firefox, Opera and Pale Moon, and so do other site. Don't know why Chrome has this problem.

Sip, hope you can still find a way to make your connection better.
