Best Modem (No router)

Hey guys,

I'm on Spencers Wood (Reading) exchange and just wondering what the best modem only device I could get is.
I'm looking to get the cleanest, lowest latency modem I can get.

Also best OpenReach faceplate for the master socket.

Can anyone recommend anything?

The (by far) best modem I’ve ever used with an OpenReach based service is the Huawei OpenReach modem. Requires zero configuration and it just works consistently and without issue. Believe it’s a HG612 and they’re cheap enough to get second hand.
I genuinely wouldn’t recommend any other.

I have used in the past and was looking at the Vigor 130... thoughts on that?
Not a massive fan of Huawei, but not willing to write them out either.

The issue with those are no more firmware support and OR dropping support for them...

But the protocol also isn’t likely to change or progress any further now. They simply work and do a good job. If support is ending it’s very likely not needed anyway.. the devices will continue to work flawlessly on the VDSL2 protocol unless there’s some drastic change which is extremely unlikely.

Even if you had a supported one from another manufacturer it’s not likely they’d be releasing firmware updates forever either..

True but like vigors still get firmware updates...

Still, I think I’d still go with the Openreach one. It was designed specifically for their own network and in my own experience has no quirks or oddities.
I used one for a very long time before moving and had no issue
