I'll admit, I haven't been around in this forum for a while (5 years ) but last time I was this was the best place to talk about domain renewals web hosting etc..
I just got a 5-year renewal reminder from 123-reg and they want £72 for a single .co.uk domain.
I fell off me chair...
Where is everybody going to talk about this kind of stuff, since there were no posts here since 2017...

Cheers
Charlie

For domains, I just go to https://tld-list.com/ and find the cheapest. They all broadly do the same if you're not after their DNS hosting.
Some "interesting" registrars out there... the cheapest was regery who I've never heard of. Reviews are mixed 5 star or 1 star. Apparently they are in Ukraine and charge in UKR currency so UK banks flag payments as dodgy.

by DNS hosting do you mean forwarding
No I mean literally the DNS hosting. You could use Cloudflare for that though as that's free to use.

I've not come across any but I guess you're safest using something like Revolut one-time-use cards for those?

I would highly recommend Amazon (AWS) Route 53 registrar. It’s not the cheapest but I don’t expect them to increase their prices or try to lock you in etc as it’s not in their interest to do so.

I use Route 53 as the registrar and Cloudflare DNS. Great solution. Both of them are very simple to use.

I use to run another website that focused on web hosting, as a complement to ISPreview, but I gave that up a few years ago to focus on this site (too much work running two sites). Since then the web-hosting side of things has somewhat waned. I've kept this part of the forum alive, even though it's not really relevant any more.

I usually buy the domain with whomever has a good deal on at the time, I think godaddy do some really cheap deals. But then the come to sting you at renewal time, so I move them to cloudflare and renew there.

Cloudflare FTW.

Only problem is there are quite a few TLDs they don't like at the moment. Especially country ones like .uk .nl etc. But you can't beat their prices, and their DNS service is the top one in my opinion. 1.1.1.1 consistently rank faster than level 3 / google etc.
