O2 / vodafone / EE signal dropping RSRP

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue. I am using mobile broadband with a Hauwei router. (618 and 818). I have been connected to Three for a long time but their service has reached the point where the have said. "Our mast is overloaded and we can't provide you with a 4G reliable service. Please use 3G instead." They have agreed to cancel my contract.

So I have been testing out other providers. They are all better than Three but Vodafone will not allow my VOIP to work. The rest all have good signal strength and seemingly the most reliable is o2. BUT, it has major signal drops several times an hour. (See attached image)

Has anyone else seen this and do you have any thoughts on this.

This is a standard Mobile sim in the router not a Data sim. I tried to get o2 to tell me what the difference is but nobody had any idea. (They said a mobile sim will not work in a router!!!) I am getting good signal strength 5 bars and figures as you can see. EE drops less often.

Regards Chris. Stay Safe.

I've never seen anyone report such a thing before... though I don't recall anyone saying they use O2 in a router.

Does the router switch (or try to) switch to a different mast or cell, or technology (3G from 4G) at that time?

No, it is always on the same mast and does the same if I lock it to 4G. I am about 3 miles from the mast over flat fenland in Norfolk mind you. So there is nothing that can get in the way of the signal. Very strange. More pronounced on o2 than others. I am wondering if it is the specific mast. On EE I get attached to a bigger more powerful mast and that seems better but it is 5 miles away.

OK, found out the issue... Faulty network cable... Took me quite a time to figure out. Thought it might be a faulty switch to start with. Much happier now!!!

So it wasn't actually a cut in service (mast to router), rather a drop in router to PC connection causing the LTE-H monitor software to fail to log data for those times?

If so - I think that's a reminder to all - to always check the connections you have control over, first, before blaming something external :)

Flat ones are only great at going through windows seals etc. Try to avoid them for anything else..
