The first slider is unavailable because that's your main 2.4GHz WiFi. It's switched on/off using the slider under 'WiFi Basic Settings'.

The 2nd slider in your image is the 2.4GHz Guest WiFi.

And there will be two more sliders for 5GHz main & Guest WiFi.

It’s Huawei Link+, it talks to other Huawei routers. You can turn it off in settings.
Turning Link+ off doesn't stop that hidden SSID appearing from time-to-time. My Link+ has been off ever since I discovered this forum thread way way back, and various WiFi signal analysers still show it intermittently shadowing my main 2.4GHz signal (same channel & almost matching signal strength).

I guess the code to disable it isn’t written so well then. Unless it’s doing something else... curious indeed.

Hi I sorted the NAT type problem so let me know if your still having problems and I will tell you what needs to be done my problem now is still the up and down with the speed I have a pointing 4G Xpol 1 antenna now and tested it this morning and was receiving 25 down 7.5 up but this is so temperamental its a joke I stayed with three because of the problems with vodafone and online gaming for a kit that has such basic setting the general configuration is poor lucky I have time to play around otherwise I would of sent it back
I'd be interested in how you resloved the issue with the NAT type.

Thanks

Echo this - Especially if you're using the Vodafone network.
NAT restriction is the only thing that's been holding me back with the B535.

I've had minimal outages while on Voda and have been using the B535 for over a month now with speeds ranging between 40-70mb down and 20-30up.

Literally the only downside right now is Strict NAT settings

To be honest I've been using the CGNAT APN for over a month now (Because the 3internet APN won't work at all for me.) and haven't noticed any downside of CGNAT at all. Xbox and all other devices on my network seem to function just fine.

Connection is stable, I'm just finding it takes longer to get into a game, on certain games at least. It's like the search criteria is narrowed.

I haven't noticed too many issues on Xbox or Playstaion (apart from not being able to summon other players into my game on Demon Souls).

However today I found out that my duaghter is unable to visit friends towns when playing Animal Crossing on the Switch if she connects to the Huawei router (using a Voxi/ Vodafone) sim card. The network settings on the Switch display a 'D' which must be their equivelent to a double Nat or something similar.

Just when I thought I can ditch my crappy Sky 0.5Mbps connection. :(

Try to get an l2tp vpn from aaisp and set it on the router. This should fix many issues for £10/m.

Think that's the route I'll be forced to take Lucian. I can't go back to that fibre connection after getting a taste of the good stuff. Hopefully there will still be decent cash back offers in 6 months time...

I signed up for AAisp l2tp service today, just to check how it works and happy to report it worked as expected on the B535, no hassle!
So this gives you a static IP, speeds are pretty good, limited at 100Mbps and the AAisp control panel is actually pretty nice, loads of info there and other geeky things.

I'm not sure I understand AAisp's pricing - it looks like they charge £10 upfront for the SIM, then it's £2/month + 1.75p/Mb. So if you use 100Gb/month thats £2 + £0.0175 x 100 x 1000 = £1752/month +VAT. Isn't that a little excessive, even considering that using 100Gb/month is a bit on the high side!?

They're talking about the L2TP VPN service - not the SIM cards.

It's 10/month for 1TB of usage IIRC. A dedicated IP and all the rest that you'd expect. The SIM is an entirely seperate (overpriced) service.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and more flexible to buy a GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2 (Mango) router for £20 on Amazon & signup to NordVPN at £2.86/month for 2years, turn off the B535 WiFi connect the Mango to the B535 by cable and use the Mango WiFi? Perhaps that wouldn't give quite the level of service & reliability desired, but certainly a lot cheaper.

Looks like the router you mention is only fast enough for ~11Mbps with OpenVPN. I guess it depends what speeds you want to/can get.

I never noticed that. The GL.iNet GL-MV1000 (Brume) is described as a "Gigabit VPN Gateway" and their blurb reckons it can manage 97Mbps with OpenVPN. It's £120 on Amazon, so that's the equivalent of £10/month (although obviously you'd need the cost of NordVPN or whomever on top of that). Their routers also support WireGuard (blurb claims Brume is capable of 280Mpbs on WireGuard) which NordVPN is kinda making available in their own 'flavour'. Anyway, just thought I would suggest some alternative ideas.

With Nordvpn you'll probably have trouble streaming from the likes of Netflix.. Not to mention dodgy Panama company, selling your data or whatever they're doing there.

As well as the trouble streaming, unless you're willing to switch the servers regularly you're going to be battling against other users at times - the app will automatically hide servers which are too busy but if you're choosing a server yourself it might end up being a congested one.

Plus many sites simply don't like data centre IPs. With AAISP L2TP you're getting your own 'home broadband' type IP which isn't shared with anyone else and you can sort of set it and forget it.

Not the option I chose for my family who have the routers though - whether or not unfounded, I don't think running a VPN service constantly is going to be the most stable of things and can just imagine it suddenly stopping to work inexplicably with me being the one who has to go round and fix it.

I simply switched providers to Vodafone and have had zero issues since - only downside is that I wish the B535 models they have could access bridge mode so it's not a triple-NAT setup. Whilst pretty good routers, the B535 WiFi range isn't quite as good as you'd get from a decent dedicated router.
