Any cheap data sim only deals?

Can anyone recommend a good data SIM only deal for a 4g modem/router around £10 to £12 per month max? Preferably on the EE or maybe even vodafone networks. O2 is terrible coverage and never tried Three and don’t know anyone who uses Three. BTW, the modem is used to remote monitor cctv cameras only.

I’ve seen some deals such as plus net £10/month for 20gb but don‘t know if it will work in a modem and I’ve heard a lot of people complain about them. Most of the cheaper deals are only for phones it seems, when I contact and ask the customer services person they only seem to know about phones, no nothing about modems.

Currently using Virgin Mobile Data which costs £12 /month for 6gb and this is getting used up very quickly. Not sure why its being used up so fast now, been wit them over a year and data used to easily last from month to month, we were even getting rolled over data up to the 10gb max rollover. I think they must have changed something because now the data runs out and have to buy more at £10/Gb so its becoming very expensive. Already paid £32 this month for 6Gb + 2Gb extra.

I‘d heard Virgin are changing from using EE to vodafone but not sure if its happened yet?

So any advice on data sim deals is appreciated.

Lebara (Vodafone) payg is £25/m unlimited data.
Also check Voxi plans, on Vodafone, too.

EE and satellite operators such as To The Moon or Talk Home are usually significantly more expensive, but if you find the best experience is with them, then check out EE business unlimited data simo contracts at £28.

Actually having just checked, their 24month (make sure you pick 24m otherwise it doesn't show this plan) simo business contract is just £23 (+vat) now. Not a bad deal at all imho.

+Talkmobile use the Vodafone network. Good luck getting a good deal on EE, they are expensive beyond belief.

Voxi have an unlimited plan at the moment of £10 until end of september.
It says you have to be unemployed or job seeking apparently and upload proof BUT I hear you can upload anything and will be accepted.

Have you looked at SMARTY?
He said he hasn't looked at three so I was just sticking with what is known to work.

I uploaded a blank photo and getting this £10 unlimited everything. 40-50mbps solid most days.

I'm trying out Voxi too Carl01460 and getting a consistant 40 - 50 all the time, much better than my 15 with three. Have to select bands 1 and 20 to achieve that, but that'll do for me. :giggle:

Yes Vodafone uses Bands 1 and 20 apparently, I set my b311 4g router to just look at those two bands. Get 25-30 and sometimes upto 44, once got 55 after midnight.
Much better than the 8 tops via my adsl2+.
We getting FTTP soon but it won't beat this at only £10 until end of September and it could be extended further.

My huawei 4g router is only a cheapo cat 4, have been told if I got a better one as in cat 6 or above the speed would deffo increase.

I wonder if any of the mobile networks will do a social tarrif to mach the up and coming BT one starting next month at £15 per month.

The 'Voxi for now' tarrif is an excellent idea, good on them for doing it, would be great if they made it permanent.

They would have to be stricter with their checks though or everyone and their dogs would be signing up. :giggle:

Yes would be good to have this £10 per month for ever.
When FTTP is eventually up and running where I am I intend to use the BT £15 per month offer, might try the £20 per month one for speeds of average 67mbps.
Just out of curiosity what 4g router are you using?

I have the Huawei CPE Pro 2 OldGeezer, the 5G/4G one, not 4G alone. :giggle:

I have a referral code for Lebara, trying to use it so my wife can put the internet in her name and take advantage of the new customer offer. Annoyingly though, when she clicks the referral link, the choices of deals to go with, don't seem to include 'unlimited data' the only unlimited thing is minutes.

I was hoping to bag that £50 referral reward! 😁

Might be worth actually looking into why you are using so much data first, and finding the root cause, then looking at other providers if you can't figure it out.

Do the bills give a break down of the data being used, and what times of data etc. ?

Thanks for all the replies and sorry I’ve not got back sooner. I’ve found this deal advertised.. Talk Mobile 30gb for £12 month using vodafone but can’t find out if they allow it to be used as a data only sim in 4g router. Anyone know anything about them? Do they allow data only? are they any good?

That voxi deal would be ok if it lasted longer than September and also don’t know if voxi allow data only in 4g routers. When asked, even voxi themselves don’t know!!

There are other decent sim only deals out there but lots of them are for phones only, theyre not data sims for 4g routers.

The router is D-Link DWR-921.

The data plan renewed again 2 days ago and with nothing connected to the router but the cctv cameras it’s already used over 1.6gb of data. There’s no way 6gb is going to last until 17th June next renewal. Looking at the bill breakdown it just shows data used per hour/each hour. it doesn’t actually show everything.

A SIM is a SIM it will work in a router, I have a VOXI SIM working in a Router at the moment..

Hope this helps..
