Windows 11 minimum specs! Thoughts?

Myself and Linux have never "clicked". At the risk of ridicule (and it was some years since I last dabbled) I downloaded a driver for some hardware and couldn't figure out what to do with said driver and so giving up and going back to Windows was the easy solution for me. Hangs head in shame as been working with PCs since DOS 3.0

Microsoft drivers are always issues! Linux is all there for you! Every hardware will work! The drivers from Microsoft are stupid need windows driver signing certificate
I can't afford to switch to Linux. I would if I could but I cant. I NEED to have reliable access to Microsoft apps like offices suite and I use Adobe apps more times in a day than I can count. There are other things too which just work better on windows; not to mention the file system in linux.

My wife was a linux girl till she had to use Adobe products. She's now stuck with Windows for the foreseeable...

If you switch to Linux then you can run Win11 inside a virtual box with a TPM 2.0 emulator on a non TPM machine. No doubt it would be slow but how long before the TPM emulators are running inside a native Win11 machine.

I'm going to try and get windows 11 running on a VM on my main PC.

Hello, currently messaging you from the VM. WhyNotWin11 seems OK with my vm and shows it should be able to run Win 11 so I'm going to try and upgrade now.

Curiosity got the better of me so I dusted off an old ThinkPad, did a quick bodge and it's now running Windows 11 with no issues.

I was merely curious to see how easy it was to bypass the TPM/Secureboot restrictions and what, if any, detrimental effect running it on an "unsupported" device would have. None it would seem.

Were you impressed? Or is it just windows 10 with a bit of extra polish?

I could barely get mine to the desktop.... don’t know whether it’s windows or my PC.....

2011 called, they want their optiplex 790 back

I had about 5 minutes to take the screenshot and that was the sum total of my time testing it.

I'll take a look in more detail tomorrow but initial impressions, and anecdotal mutterings, are that it's Windows 10 with some shiny bits.

Currently posting from the windows 11 vm, got it to boot finally so thats good i guess. I now want to see what happens if i try and remove some of the required hardware such as ram but i'll play around with it a bit more before that. I'm running it on Hyper-V with the ram upgraded to 4GB and the TPM ON.

WDDM 2.0 driver
Might add that I didn't have this when I tried on my vm and it installed and worked like a charm (when I got it to boot lmao)

I don't know why they keep fiddling with that, @Mark.J.
Windows 2000/XP was top desktop paradigm, everything else is time waste.
