Smarty App

Been looking forward to the launch of the Smarty app and installed it couple of minutes ago, but it won't work, stating "Sorry, the SMARTY app does not support jailbroken devices"

Well there goes my excitement and deleted off my phone, well done Smarty!

Well, that’s unfortunate.

The app is quite nice to be fair, more effort put in than the Three app surprisingly. Very smooth.

Appears that way! Imagine owning your own device and installing only the apps you use and want, instead of all the bloatware manufactures force us to use!

The Three app works (to a degree) as well as my banking app, but it is too risky for Smarty. What on earth are they protecting!?!

It's a Linux computer, if I don't have root then I'm the product.

You know, this is why I hate apps. 99% them aren't even "native", they're just a fake browser wrap around their web site.

Why should I let them track my phone activity, location and other telemetry through their app when using the browser is sufficient? What is really there to gain in this case?

I don’t think the smarty app had any requests when I downloaded it. iPhone pro max.

Android may be a different story.

Same as finding and updating masts while you move around. +whatever they'll root from you

I always remember the Giffgaff app being pretty much just a jazzed up browser. I agree, they have put a lot more effort into the smarty app than they did with the three one, it works a lot better and has a lot more polish. I also recently got one of the brand new 4G+ MiFi devices, if there's any testing anyone wants me to do I'd be happy to help!

Ok, looks like enough complained that they're willing to change their tune in future versions.

I guess, their app, their rules. Just seems like one of the many paper cuts that Three introduce for no good reason. They used to have an app called ThreeInTouch and that was also riddled with silly bugs that made a good idea, very terrible!

Have you tried root cloak plus? It used to be a xposed module but I'm sure you can get the apk plus cydia and it hides the root element on your phone

I had that one a few times with my VoLTE issues till it was actually true and VoLTE started working again
