@mattieskohytonen @grealish @redisred Hi , Hope you guys are not running Chinese Firmware. Anyone installed the ones from either Play, Telia , Elisa ? What are the band locking features available on them ? What differences do you guys see from the original Chinese Firmware. ? Is the connection stable now .. Please post your results

Hi, @rak093. I have a ZTE MC7010 unfortunately it runs on Chinese firmware and there is no option for band locking. I like to try the Play firmware but don't know how to change the firmware and have no option on the Web Ui of the CPE to upload the firmware. Also, I don't want to risk changing firmware that might cause future problems.

In terms of the connection, I also experience signal dropping from 5G to 4G on my first week of use even if it is already locked on 5G NSA only using ZManager app where I need to sometimes restart the device in order for the device to stay on 5G again. After weeks of using I don't experience the signal dropping anymore and hope that it stays that way.

Hi, I am from the Philippines and I use Smart Communications (a local carrier). Their 5G speeds and network is good.
I wouldn't really recommend using carrier firmware, and anyways we wouldn't have tried those carriers you mentioned as none of them exist in the UK

Im from finland, but my mc7010 uses chinese firmware, because i ordered it from china. I would like to try those elisa or telia firmwares, but dont know how to update my router. Still im quit happy with the router.

This is just an example of flashing MC801A. But in your case you need
- ZTE terminal software update framework installed on your computer.
- connect the Zte mc7010 micro usb to computer usb port.
- and then zte mc7010 usb driver uploaded to Zte terminal software update framework application.
-Then download the firmware file for Elisa or Telia from androidhost.ru website as given earlier on this page.
- load the firmware to to device.
- don't disconnect the device when the software update in progress.

Thank you. I will try this. 👍

Hi @grabaar May I ask for a copy of the firmware for the PL version of ZTE MC7010? Also, I have found this app where you can lock bands for ZTE MC7010 without having to upgrade or change your firmware. I have an existing Chinese firmware and I use this app to lock a specific band.
@redisred @mattieskohytonen And how are you connecting your mobile app ZManager to the ZTE MC7010 Router to lock bands ? Can you please explain in details.

Does the Router Supports Wifi ?

Hi, this is Chinese firmware, I think it also works on different firmwares.

Anyone experience of the ZTE MC801A ?

Due to location as much as I would love as 7010 being costal with excessive high winds it’s not ideal at the top of a block. I’ve had windows and frames damaged so it would be like burning a few hundred quid.

Just wondering if anyone moved from 801 to 7010 and can share experience of both.

Thanks.

Yep, I can access this hidden menu on the PLY Play firmware. Not keen on making any changes/experiments as everything is still working spot on for me bur good to know all this.

Would be interesting to know if this works on the Finnish firmwares as these seem to be the “latest” revisions publicly available at no cost.
