A 3 Pole of Wonder

View attachment 1613
Interesting, I'm not seeing any mention of EE in mine anywhere.
It seems to have the three frequencies in this diagram, but not the new ones.

Maybe things will change nearer completion, who knows.
Yours is a fully unilateral pole I think, so 3 5G and 4G, mine is only unilateral for the 5G antennas.

My current mast is 4G EE and Three so as its being replaced they sort of have to have both on there.

I get 100/30 on EE 4G standing under the pole FYI.

Yes I think you're right, it does say 5G unilateral on a lot of docs on checking them, no mention of 4G.

So I am not sure what’s going on with my 3 pole. The internal target date on the planning application tjaybhas been pre approved for my pole has just past a few days ago. I was expecting a further letter to be issued out by now to 3 to say that pre approval is not required and to go ahead and do your works. However that letter still has not been issued. So not sure how long that is going to take.

Oh hope it updates soon for you Nomader, mine was approved earlier than the internal target date, they must have got out of the right side of bed a few times that week. :giggle:

Approved with no conditions was the end result. 🥳

Ok, so the planned work installing my pole ended 30th Sept.

This morning doing my normal speed tests I see some strange numbers, like roughly normal download, but an extra 10ms ping, and upload of 20+...

Check the cell ID in my router and it's different. It's the Cell ID of my new pole/existing pole site in cell mapper, 300m away

It can't have gone live a mere 4 days after being installed, shirely?

A quick test of the router on that side of the house (current mast is in the opposite direction) give no 5G signal at all, so I'm not sure what's going on!!

Perhaps 5G will come at a later date..

I thought the CPE Pro (not the 2 model) could only connect to a single tower for both 4G and 5G?

To clarify, I have a 5G signal when connected to the new mast. The same strength (roughly) as when I was connected to the mast 2.4km away.

OK so my new mast side number is: eNB ID 2965

I'm seeing connections to 759042 which is one of the existing 4G antennas (759040/1/2) but also 759112 which isn't on cellmapper but is tied to that site.

If Three can do multi mast connections It's quite possible I'm getting 5G from my regular mast and 4g from the new one. I'll do some testing later today when I'm finishing working.

(I think) all 5G devices support 5G coming from a different site to the 4G anchor (inter-site EN-DC) - to the device it doesn't matter where the bearer comes from.

Three also enable/support inter-site EN-DC on their network (other providers don't), so it's very possible your situation is as you describe.

What's the CellID/eNB (and 4G connection metrics) when you think you're connected to the new mast?

My local 3-pole-of-wonder has been rejected again. This is the barely literate written objection on the council website:

"1. We already have one 15m mast in Cadbury Heath addict to this proposed site this will make the area seem very overdeveloped. It does say in the application that this mask will be full screened by tall mature trees but these trees are not near the mast site.
2. We already have issues with young people sitting on top of the green cabinets by the existing mast and causing issues for those walking past. The new mast will be outside the new takeaway and so it will attract Young people to sit on top .
3. It is very close to residential properties and with the reduction in high will be very visable from the flat s in School Road.

The proposed site says it is in Newton Road but it is actually in School Road Cadbury Heath which Coes make me wonder if the company have even visited the area."

So a main objection seems to be that children will sit on the cabinets. There were no other objections.
Disappointing but the resident does have a point. There are more suitable locations with room to erect a fence around the cabinets within 100 yards of the proposed location.

Aw that's really rotten eccles, hope they don't get fed up trying. :(

My new mast was objected to on the original planning application with:
The existing 11m high pole which looks like a tampon on a stick is already ugly enough and dominates the surround area. It can be seen quite clearly from our rear garden, especially in
the winter when there are no leaves on the trees. I have no wish for a 20m stick to be installed. It
will tower above all the near by houses and will be seen for miles and become a blot on the
landscape for years to come. Why should a residential area have to put up with that.
I therefore register my strongest objection to this proposal and would be grateful if the existing
11m pole is also removed.

"tampon on a stick" 🤣 also not only does he not want a bigger tampon on a stick, he wants the current one taken down as well. 🤨

Would be great if all the masts were removed and he had no mobile signal whatsoever, he sure doesn't deserve one.

What a total plonker.

I'm glad we had no complaints regarding my 3 pole of wonder, just a positive comment saying how it would benefit the area tremendously.

I wonder who made that comment.;)☺️

(Thanks to Gavin suggesting that I make a comment)(y)

Well today is the last of 3 where they install the AAU. Anyone got any idea roughly how long it takes before it goes live?

Hmmm I've got a 3rd page listed on the roadworks website today for starting on the 15th November.

Rigging, integration and testing within existing telecoms site.

Will that be adding the antennas do you think folks, or just filling the cabinets with the gubbins?

Or am I just being a bit too optimistic.😊

I'd think it'd be antenna adds - feels like you should be optimistic!
I must admit it does seem to be coming along nicely Gavin, just hope it's not all completed and nothing happens for months on end.

I will take your advice and be optomistic though. (y)☺️

Not sure why it's taking so long?

VF/3/EE are slapping masts up around here at stupid rate. They're normally done over a period of two days (VF) and 2-4 days EE/3, whether it takes them that long or not, I'm not entirely sure?

There's another 3 one due to be done and up around the middle of this month. Planning was only approved 3 weeks ago too.

Well I certainly hope it's as speedy as that, but 2 days maybe just for mast raising.

Must take a while after that to get things all hunky dory for switch on time you'd think.

I mean there's a 10 day window alone for Scottish Power to just lay power trunking for it apparently.

Anyway, I'm still getting excited about it.😊

Deffo takes a while, initial underground work and cabinets went in on mine middle of August, mast went up a couple of weeks ago and there's no 5G signal as yet...
