New EE sim, 130mb in mobile only 60mb in router?

i have two routers to test and both giving back the same speed

TP link Archer MR600 - not my main device
Huawei b525 23a

Could someone who understands this better have a look why i cant get even close the speeds i get on my mobile. Looks like my router isnt putting it into 4g+?

Screenshots from cell mapper with sim in mobile. mobile is Motorola Edge 5g (not 2021 model)

I have tried messing around with bands in both routers and nothing improves.

Knowing what your phone is would help a bit. Likely it's aggregating 3 bands (3+3+1) whereas neither the archer or Huawei routers can aggregate more than 2 bands.

Sorry phone is Motorole Edge 5G (not 2021 model)

what router can agragate those brands?

Your phone is a fairly high spec device (at least modem wise) as it's CAT 18, whereas the routers are CAT 6, which is low end these days (comparable with a 4G phone from circa 2014).
Your phone is also 4*4 MIMO and 256QAM capable, neither of which the routers are (2*2 MIMO and 64 QAM).
4*4 MIMO gives 2x theoretical speeds over 2*2 MIMO, and 256QAM gives approximately +20% over 64QAM.

You'll need to be looking for a fairly high spec router to match it, but firstly you need to be certain what bands are available to you from your mast to know what bands to look for in a routers specs.

I'm only going from the screenshots you've provided, there could also be some band 7 not shown which might be aggregating as 7+7+3+1 or 7+7+3+3.

according to cell mapper i have 1,3,20 available,

seems like the CPE pro models are going to be the only ones capable, just need to weigh up if its worth the cost for 60mb more.

Cellmapper the app 'cells' page. Or the website. The app will be most accurate as it shows you the currently connected cell and also neighbouring cells at that moment in time, some of which might be B7 (may need to scroll down to see them all). Cellmapper website might not have been submitted with any data for band 7.

Just tried the app and it only connects to only band 3's and 1's no band 7

should i go with

5GCPE pro
5G CPE pro 2
4g CPE pro 2

Yes have brought them from Sotel and/or Router-switch. Not cheap though new around £400. Mind you sold an 18 month old (locked) GigaCube on eBay for nearly £250
No I mean, buy one that is locked to EE or three and get an unlock code.

I might just get 4g CPE for £120 used to saved some money, won't have 5g where I am for ages

Pass sorry. I've only ever had a VF-locked GigaCube (which was very good) basically the prior version (CPE Pro) and the bought from new fully unlocked from scratch follow on model the CPE Pro 2 (H122-373)

If you area is 4G-only, then you can look at Huawei B818 (better) or Huawei B618, either should be significantly better than your current routers.. of course, testing is required as circumstances can vary wildly.

Another issue i have right now is my b525 does not let me set the APN to IPV4 only, this setting it missing, so i cannot connect to things like Xbox live or Steam,

Does the B818 or B618 allow the IPV4 only to be set on APN?

this seems like a i really dumb thing not to have,

Not saying you're wrong stoke1863, but this was taken from the B525, it's very easy to miss and easy to think it's not there.

In the APN section in profiles you have to scroll down to see the IPv fields.

Have another wee lookie and look for the grey scroll bar to the right.

Best of luck.🤞

Mine is definitely disabled, but I can inspect the page and disbale the CSS that hides the setting!

How sneaky, going to try and get it to work now.

Yes it's a really badly designed page, lots of users can't find it until they manage to drag down the very thin scroll bar.

Anyway, best of luck to you with your CSS routine.☺️

good news, setting the IP setting on APN to IPV4 has at least got it so i can connect to steam and other games!

i will still upgrade for faster connection but this is at least something i can use until i upgrade.

Here is a screenshot showing its hidden in CSS.

No idea why they would hide that setting, i think my b525 was from Poland ISP or another eastern European ISP
