Anyone on Giganet?

Giganet have their own backhaul, so probably limited by that, Vodafone is the same in certain where the max they can offer is 200mbps. The only way they will offer the higher speeds is by upgrading the backhaul. Not all isps use BT or Talktalk Wholesale in all areas.

They are available in my area but max out at 500 Mbps due to cost according to Giganet, they told me that they can't sell the 900 Mbps in my area for £40 a month, so they removed in and now charge £37 for 500 Mbps. I've no idea why location should make a difference if you're connected to the same core BT network.
It completely depends what connectivity Giganet have to your serving BT handover exchange or CityFibre FEx.

Giganet need to make a business decision whether they will attract enough custom to justify their one-off and ongoing costs of having sufficient backhaul capacity and for Openreach based areas, Cablelink capacity at the said exchange to provide and adequate service level for the very highest FTTP tiers.

There are over 900 such handover exchanges around the country, many of the smaller ISPs like Gigaclear don't have the budget or resources necessarily to connect all of them or if they choose another wholesale backhaul provider that could provide such national connectivity then they may not be a able to compete necessarily on price.

Unfortunately its not as simplistic as being "connected to the same core network"

I have just joined Giganet on Openreach network and all have been fine so far. Here's a traceroute from London

Code:

Could you send a speedtest aswell please? Thanks

Initially you may see routing through Manchester, adding around 7 ms in my case. That was corrected after the first router reboot. I'm wondering whether it's automatic or manual. Are you going to be through Openreach or CityFibre?

Hi, been with them for about 3 weeks now (in Crawley, using CiyFibre).

Service speed has been good and no outages.
Download speed test result with Ookla varies a bit (oddly normally better using Vodafone Ookla server!?) but always over 450Mb/s, upload speed test result always over 900Mbit/s. Ping at 10ms.,

Customer service excellent on the one occasion needed, we had an issue with some Streaming services saying "program not available in your area", I messaged Giganet on Sunday evening via the WhatsApp link on the site, had reply 9.30AM, fixed by 10AM

Got connected to Giganet's 150Mb plan via CityFibre last week and it's off to a good start. We're in Reading, and pings to servers in the London area are generally 5-7ms, speed hardly varies at all:

Tracing route to dns.google [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms dsldevice.lan [192.168.1.1]
2 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms thn-bn-2.giga.net.uk [37.48.224.7]

6 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms 142.251.52.143
7 6 ms 6 ms 6 ms dns.google [8.8.8.8]

For some reason Giganet have kindly given us 500Mb upload. Not complaining :) Does anyone else get a Speedtest result like this one?

I know a user on CityFibre Zen 300, and they get 900 up too

I changed from Vodafone 900 to Giganet and my latency has dropped by 8ms:

Happy days

I am on Giganet 900, now in my 3rd month, I had an issue at the beginning with random dropouts, but I must say the tech support from Giganet was top-notch, they asked me to check the ethernet connection between the router and the wall box, turns out the cable was faulty, 2 mins to replace the cable and all has been well ever since. What I really liked was the phone was answered immediately, they kept the support ticket open, and they periodically checked in with me by email over several weeks to make sure everything was working as it should, I can only imagine the experience would have been quite different with the likes of Vodafone and Talktalk given my previous experiences with their CS and tech support.

Looks like Giganet have a pretty good offer £40 for 900mb no contract with £30 towards your bill if you use your own router seems pretty tempting. They have just gone live in my area IS anyone with them?. Any speedtests/traceroutes or reviews would be much appreciated.

Been using them was going to use ZEN at first, but I'm glad I went with these GUYS, think they are AWESOME thus far ** fingers crossed ** Would recommend them to others

I'm currently with zen on fttc, but just this week openreach emailed to say fttp now available
I noticed 900 isn't available, though their pricing for 500 at 37 is attractive.
How are they for latency (from brighton) compared to, for example, zen (who've been good at around 7ms with minimal jitter)

I presume they also do ipv6? And ok to use existing Fritz 7530?
openreach->cityfibre network switchover in-contract (if giganet decide to offer both)?

Not sure about Brighton, but in London Giganet uses Zen backhaul between a customer's exchange and the Giganet network.
Giganet is quite good at answering customer's questions so you may want to give them a ring to clarify.

Can anyone provide more stats w/ Giganet, maybe 50-100+ pings rather than just a few as I want to see how stable it is, and how much jitter there is over a larger sample size.
Your aprox location & whether you're on OR or CF would be nice too.
If someone has SmokePing running that would be nice.
Currently there is quite limited information that goes into very specific detail of the performance.

Pings to hosts like 1.1.1.1, fastly.com, 8.8.8.8 would be nice.
Thank you, hope someone can provide as I do wish to switch once my Vodafone contract is over...
