Morecambe fttp

they have been busy in our area yesterday, bar a couple of streets most have the cbt's on the pole and the cable goes straight into the ground, naturally my pole isnt done yet haha

yeah it doesnt seem to be that long after the cbt's go up that people are able to order, saw some go up 2 weeks ago near regent road and there is already connections coming off them

Looks like OR are starting on the lower end of Heysham, Heysham road heading upto the strawberry gardens area
be nice if they finished this area first haha, we have wires coming up out of the poles where the cbt's are still to be installed

I noticed them digging up near the pub the other week.

Going fast...

I did hear though that the engineer enabling premises though were running about 2 a day due to the effort needed.

Not sure how true that is as its was a friend of a freind of an OR engineer.

Does any one know what ONT is been used when installs take place ?

Thanks

T

PS Still not had any contact from BT...

PPS Looked on the web site and I've been able to place an order, given the impending potential strike I shoud just get in. Due in about a week :)

Finally got my contact from BT...

Hello, BT here. Great news, as part of your new BT Broadband order, you will be upgraded to our next generation home phone service called Digital Voice, find out more here: https://care.bt.com/digital_voice

We are going to send you a short video on what to expect, and what you can do to get ready to be connected.

I'd be interested in knowing what ont they use too... And how many ports it comes with. I suspect it will be single port for home.

That said my original nte came with 2.

not at all jelouse that even my parents are getting fttp before me, and me dad only uses internet for the dodgey box for football haha

I'm guessing your in the trade... If so do you happen to know if businesses may get a different ont by default?

Thanks

T
Nope. They'll get the same one if ordering FTTP. There is no differentiation when it comes to the ONT whether its a business or resi connection.

FTTP is showing as available now for my property (and has been since the middle of May).

It can be booked via BT, EE or Sky on their websites.

However, for TalkTalk and Vodafone it is showing as FTTP not available.

Does anyone know how long it normally takes after other providers are starting to offer FTTP for the likes of TalkTalk and Vodafone to offer it too ?

Thanks in advance

That's another 'how longs a piece of string' question...

Depends on the operator and when they deem it worthwhile commercially to get the requisite backhaul capacity at the handover + Cablelinks in place (or upgraded). Sometimes they only offer a limited bandwidth packages (sub 500 Mbps) if they are somehow constrained on this front. if they have nothing then you cant order until they do. It could be weeks or months...
