Yep.What network is this? EE direct?
I picked up VF PAYG and ported in.Someone mentioned this a few weeks ago but this is honestly absurd. It costs literally £3.89 if you wanted to get a new number from an MVNO and port it back into EE.
UK's best network sure has some unwanted charges...
I literally had this issue a few weeks ago and was shocked to find out EE wanted to charge for it you have to say you are being spammed harassed or escalated to a manager to get them to do it for free now.Someone mentioned this a few weeks ago but this is honestly absurd.
it shouldn't be charged straight away, I believe the charges should be after 2 requests, well that was policy at one time but these day, BT are knobsI literally had this issue a few weeks ago and was shocked to find out EE wanted to charge for it you have to say you are being spammed harassed or escalated to a manager to get them to do it for free now.
Deliberately keep a spare sim now just incase it needs swapped again in the future as EE support seem to make it such a hassle when it doesn't need to be
Exactly, it's not fair on a victim of abuse to have to then plead their case over something as simple as just changing their number. They've already gone through enough, so why do they have to go through more hassle?I literally had this issue a few weeks ago and was shocked to find out EE wanted to charge for it you have to say you are being spammed harassed or escalated to a manager to get them to do it for free now.

That's exactly what I did. I rarely change numbers but had to this one occasion and was not up for £35. That's more than I've paid EE in total ever!I change my number every couple of years as a matter of course - it's just a neat way of keeping family and close friends around while getting rid of random people. All I do is order a PAYG SIM from another network and port in.
I ordered a Smarty SIM to test out and it came with a really good number, but at the time I'd just changed my number and there are also (apparently) issues with call quality when using a Three number ported to EE.Plenty in the supermarket for 99p.
You can even pick your own number on the back of the sim pack.
Some brilliant gold and platinum numbers to be had if you get lucky.

Yes, that sounds about right. Shame they won't fix it.I believe it's the other way around, an EE number ported to Three - I have a number from VM (which according to Ofcom, that number's range was managed by T-Mobile, ofc now EE), and now currently have it on iD Mobile and all incoming calls are poopoo quality (unless being called from someone on a Three-based network, tho I have no way of testing this myself, no one I know is on a Three network) - outgoing is perfectly fine, tho.
I can't find the SIM now, I think I chucked it while I was clearing the drawer out because I figured I was never going to use it, but the number was something like 07xxx 373757.Yes, that sounds about right. Shame they won't fix it.
It also impacts EE to Three calls in general, they always sound awful so I just call back as Three have HD outgoing to all networks as long as they support.
Spusu and Three let you pick your number when you join them. And Carphone Warehouse still let you pick your number if you are signing up to Vodafone through them instore I believe.I can't find the SIM now, I think I chucked it while I was clearing the drawer out because I figured I was never going to use it, but the number was something like 07xxx 373757.
I miss the old days of being able to choose your number, it used to be something they'd do for you - 20-odd years ago when I took out my first contract in a Vodafone shop, they showed me a list of available numbers on the screen and let me pick one there and then. In recent years, I recall the IKEA mobile network (was it Family?) had an online number picker.
Nowadays, only 1p Mobile seem to have this function, and I don't really like their 07396 code, there's something a bit 'off' about 073 to me, it doesn't feel like a proper mobile number.
That might be what happened all those years ago with Vodafone - I genuinely can't remember if it was Carphone Warehouse or Vodafone direct as it was so long ago!Carphone Warehouse still let you pick your number if you are signing up to Vodafone through them instore I believe.
You can choose your number for a smallish fee with 1pmobile and then port to any network. They have some decent numbers. https://www.1pmobile.com/gold-numbersI can't find the SIM now, I think I chucked it while I was clearing the drawer out because I figured I was never going to use it, but the number was something like 07xxx 373757.
