Hello everyone.

First off, I like the idea of non members being able to post.

I currently have Sky Broadband, as sky is not 'in my area' I pay £17.99 to rent my line from BT I believe.

I'll be the first to admit that I am a very heavy user, 87 gb last month and things have been like that for a while.

My issue is I’m currently throttled from around 3pm - 2 am to 0.01 kbps!!! At 3am I will get around 6.8-7.4mbs so p2p is no problems but it does mean I can't even view Google in the evening!

I've applied for my MAC code and now face the prospect of finding a new ISP.

Can anyone recommend an ISP that is p2p friendly and won't charge me £79.99 a month!!!

I have no issues with throttling, I expect it, but not to such a level where a 56k modem would be faster!!!!

I have read dozens of reviews and visited each of the 'top 10 ISPs' listed but none really fit my requirements.

I'm also concerned that I simply won't get a better package from anyone else!!!

Any help and advice welcome.

Regards

Simon

87GB? Sky Broadband's "Connect" service for non-unbundled customers (i.e. those only covered by BT) restricts monthly usage to 40GB, I guess it must be a soft-limit as you hint. Anyway, finding a super-flexible package on BT's platform is not going to be easy and you may need to sacrifice some quality to get it.

PlusNet have some quite flexible packages, they may not be the fastest but the prices aren't going to kill your wallet. IDNet, Eclipse Internet and Zen Internet might also be worth a look but remember that you will pay more for a higher quality service.

Thanks for the reply Mark.

I've had a look at your suggestions but they all offer max of 100gbs.

Do you know if there are any ISPs that offer true unrestricted access?

Looks like my days of downloading anything i wish could be ending.

Thanks again for your post.

If you want a truly unrestricted usage allowance and can only get ISPs that use BT's platform then you should expected to pay through the nose for something like that, maybe £60 to £100 per month.

ICUK does have a service that gives you 50GB during the daytime and 100GB off-peak for £35 per month.

They have an unmetered option too but that's for unbundled lines. Check their business packages too.

Vispa will do you a Business package 100gb for about £43; you will have to ask if you get this as a "Peak" allowance with the same 999Gb off peak allowance domestic customers get.
