1G+ Openreach FTTP ISP's?

Any day now I hope to be able to order FTTP on Openreach infrastructure, the cables have finally made it down the pole and into a chamber containing a junction resembling an oversized darth vader's head.

I was of the opinion that the 1800Mbps trial had concluded and was now generally available, a neighbor who's pole went RFS some time ago can get this speed according to OR's own checker.
Aside from EE, who I don't want to use as I wish to run my own router and don't want to run the risk of poor support in the event of a fault that clearly isn't at my end (always an issue with the bodge that is the OR FFTP rollout and the fact there are still a lot of subbies entering the network) I can't seem to find any other providers offering service over 900Mbps.

I've been a loyal(ish) Zen customer since the early ADSL days and now on G.Fast 330/50 but they don't seem to offer the fastest tier available as yet, are any other smaller providers?

Granted, I don't *need* such high speeds on a regular basis but all of my network hardware is more than capable and much like my friend can't drive his Lamborghini and faster than I can drive my Ford, its kind of nice that the extra "oomph" is there.

So there are a few providers able to provide 1800Mb via Openreach with some more planned real soon.

Zen should be launching this month or you can try Freeola which uses Zen wholesale and offers a 30-day contract with free installation (wires-only service)

You can join the Discord for the full list of Multi-Gig providers (> 1Gbps) Albeit Mark also has a list on this site

I've just moved from BT to EE, although just the 900 product, 1.6 was available.

I'm using a pfSense based router and during the switch over the line never changed, still have the same IP address I had before EE, so as far as I can see it's just BT but I now pay EE.

I just yesterday upgraded to 1200/120 iDNet. Was fastest for now. Engineer told they More and more places can get up to 2Gb/s.
Not sure yet why, but downloads not really exceeding 1050Mb/s, but uploads now are 120 Mb/s.
Ping pong is 6-9ms. Usually 7ms.
Here in Wisbech (PE13)

Did you count overhead?

You aren't required to use the supplied router on EE/BT, unless you are paying for and wish to use digital voice.

I'm not sure Zen's support is worth shouting about by comparison, though

iDNet does as one example.
I had a look at IDNet following the front page article detailing the launch. As with some of those commenting on the article, initially the IDNet site only showed the faster speeds as available on gaming packages, then they disappeared completely and now it only shows the standard 900 being available at my address.

Zen 1800Mbps is not available everywhere, will only be in exchanges where they are unbundled and host their own infrastructure in your local FTTP exchange.

Was going to check and see what is available for me - but the Zen website returns "Forbidden Access". Oh well.

They are in a good majority of hand over exchanged, not so much in smaller ones where they use BT wholesale (who are yet to release packages)

Yeah, mine happens to be the not so much, but I'm between Swansea and Cardiff, would be interesting to see if they're unbundled in Wales at all, actually.

They have, older article but shows a map with some locations and I'm sure they've added more

Well that is interesting, thank you!

im on vodafone but theirs is 1.6gb not 1.8 but i have actually seen it do 1700 occasionally but i also happen to know that i am the only customer on the PON because they just fitted it last month and they told me there are no other connections, im the first and only one. I figure they call it 1.6 to cover losses/saturation/overheads etc?

Looks like you're in good company hunting for those higher speeds. Zen's rollout seems patchy, but it might be worth keeping an eye on their plans or checking out iDNet or Freeola for alternatives.

What overhead? With little help from iDNet support I restarted router and ONT and now I got promised real speeds up to 1200/120 Mb/s...

I don't see much point in going faster than 1G tbh... it's already very quick, what are people using it for? except an occasional game download

Just an FYI it is 1.8 as that is the profile but you won't usually get the max so they need to advertise the speed slower thus 1.6

You might not see a point.
Large household, those with like 5+ people. Especially with multiple kids wanting to download the latest Fortnite update after school quickly
But yea it's mainly burst but that's the same with any speed over 100Mb for the average people

question: does the username/password of the PPOE connection remains the BT "universal one" or are you assign new ones for EE?
