I know he's not the most popular on here, but I found this pretty interesting

I thought those frequencies were reserved by Ofcom, but I guess not anymore

It uses unlicensed spectrum EU863 (863-868MHz), similar to LoRa and Helium - see the Meshtastic discussion btw which goes much farther.
That's why is goes so far, but you are limited, legally only to be used at max 500mW erp (or 27dBm).

Looks to be using the HaLow (802.11ah) standard that I just wrote about recently, which has actually been around for a long time but never really took off.

But I think I'd caution that I can't find a lot of solid detail on Ofcom's stance toward this in the UK, it's almost like they don't know it exists :) . I'd also caution against buying kit that isn't for sale directly in the UK, as it may not have been properly tested to standard for this market.

So whatever is printed on the label about compliance, may not actually be the truth or accurate. As a rule, you should only buy wireless network kit that is available from credible UK based retailers.

Looks like he's using these:

I actually found that quite interesting. Very niche use-case, but interesting none the less.

Whatsapp video calls are strange. Tell me how it's crystal clear on 1 bar B20 on Three.
yeah, I've found Whatsapp Voice to be more reliable than EE VoLTE in low-signal situations, crazy robotic voice lastnight while trying to call a family member in hospital (nothing to serious, just calling every 1hr or so to ask how their getting on). Calls were failing or in terrible quality, called back on Whatsapp Voice and it was perfect. 1bar of 4G or nothing, no edge, no 3G. I haven't seen EDGE or 3G myself on EE for months now, only GPRS when I forced it to test if I could still connect to 3G. It seems to be either No Service or LTE/5G

Visited today and they have WiFi in there which I helped connect to, login portal looks like it's from 1996 so I doubt many in there are using it
