1p mobile showing as ee all of a sudden

Plus for one is a Polish MNO.
I suspect in this case it’s more of a reference to TelecomPlus - One of the many names that is connected to Utility Warehouse/1p Mobile.

I can’t immediately think of a ‘club’ reference but it will probably link back to another of their brands.

I can’t even think of a past Orange UK MVNO that had a similar name it could be connected to either that they had maybe absorbed over the years.

Club was an old name used by UW, something like The discount club. The logo was a piggy bank.

Makes sense. I managed to find this online showing both the UW and Discount Club names with the logo you referenced. Digging deeper there seemed to be some kind of business club accounts too so it could have also been something to do with that too.

I wasn't even aware myself that UW was related to 1p.
Wish I had that SIM 😪 all I have is a newer one.

Ex Employee of UW here (Fixed line and Mobile), they bought TML (Telecoms Management Limited) and somehow 1p mobile was created at the time. TML was then sold off and restructured after UW (Aka, Telecoms Plus) moved customers around. And it's ALL done via EE systems, to the point of to get a sim re-provisoned we need to call through to EE Support. The 249 prefix is one that was attached to all 4G and 5G compatible sims.
