After many stressfull years with Virgin Media, i thought i would enter into the world of mobile broadband pay as you go or rather what they term boost. I took out a 200 gig boost which lasts for one month, no contract. I do not understand why i get these emails from 1p mobile, given, no contract, pay for one month at a time and walk away yet see this email

I do not understand why taking into account that i am not in contract pay for each month i just add what they call boost. I have a mobile router mc888. Thought i would go for this option for a couple of reasons, (1) no contract (2) pay and walk away in other words if times are hard i can just simply walk away (remember no contract) so, i do not understand 1p mobile policy which incidentally they have hit me in the past financially and taken money from one of my other mobile sims accounts. The email clearly states that i would be charged at their standard rate, so why doesnt the so called boost 200 gig just not end and thats it !!(remember no contract walk away at any time, but the email doesnt appear to suggest this? can anyone help me understand whats going on with this pay as you go or pay as you use?
thankyou

If you continue to use data/minutes/texts after 30 days (when your 200GB Boost expires) then you will be charged 1p per MB/minute/text, until you choose another boost. If you select Auto-recurr then the same boost would be reinstated and charged and you would not see such a message. Make sure you don't have Auto-topup selected if you wish to leave 1p and your sim will expire in a few months.

contract. I do not understand why i get these emails from 1p mobile
Because some will be like errrrr durrrr my dAtA sToPpEd WoRkInG why.

All networks do this pretty much, it’s a warning in case you do still want the services.

If you didn’t, you could take the service, then get your STAC and then enter it for 30 days time.

Not really anything worth moaning about tbh. It’s probably in the terms that they’ll remind you when your bundle will end, but as a consumer, we don’t read the small print.

I think sorry to say this your missing the point the idea of no contract pay as you go means that if you decide to not renew then the data should stop the service to which you paid has ceased at the end of the 30 days (hence no contract) or are you saying that i have to give notice? like you would in a contract? then what is the point, I wouldnt mind but the company doesnt even give roll over to the next month, why doesnt 1 P mobile simply say at 30 days your boost will stop and you will have no service, no, what they really hope is to charge you by the minute. The company in my opinion is very shoddy the dash board isnt accurate, they tell you to telephone to me whilst i appreciate that phone companies need to make a profit, it should be honest and fair, and by this i mean once you have paid for and used up the service should stop.

You didn’t enter a 30 day contact you joined a pay as you go service, meaning you pay as you go, no end to it, free to stay, free to leave, no ties.

You’re overlooking into it, it’s giving you a heads up, you chose to ignore the t&cs so that’s on you really.

Once the plan ends, you likely won’t get another reminder, however, you’d be quite annoyed if you had credit and you realised it was all used up if they hadn’t of warned you.

They don’t cater to you and your preferences alone, they cater for every customer.

1p Mobile is a prepaid network. Unless you have topped up credit, the service won't work. You won't be charged unless you have been on and topped it up.

You are given warning your boost is ending as per the email. If you don't want these warnings, you need to set to auto-renew. Or if you don't want auto-renew, just manually set up a new boost if you want to use it again.

Most prepaid networks work like this.

The idea of no contract means you are not committed to using a service for a fixed period of time. You are free to stop using the service at any time without giving notice.

The majority of people will NOT be signing up for a mobile service for just 30 days only.

The company are advising you that the 30 days is coming to an end, and if you have additional credit on the account they are warning you that you will be charged at the standard rate. This prevents people from moaning they have been charged £10 for 1GB of data, because they didn't realise their 30 day boost had run out.

The dashboard in my opinion is excellent. You say it isn't accurate, As they are an MVNO and not the network, they state that the information on the page is not real time. This is probably because they have to wait for the usage data to be provided to them by the network. I have always found calls and texts to show up in the usage area within an hour. It is understandable that they state, the usage information is not real time. If you have used 1GB of data in the last 20 minutes it may not be showing yet in your account area.

I don't see how you can call this dishonest and unfair, most people do not want their mobile service to just stop after 30 days without warning.
