2 Gbps Options Now Available

the price for 2gbps on VM is crazy and the fact that you have to pay £6 more for same upload as download is even more crazy, for £84 the 2gbps plan should be download and upload... but vm is greedy :C
Wait for openreach ISP's and Cityfibre ISPs to release their 2GB+ products and watch all the prices drop like mad.

VM is known quite well for getting a good 25–30% off their product by just asking and being slightly more annoying. I managed to get gig1 down from 65 down to 30 by saying I was coming from CityFibre.

As with the £6 more for symetrical speeds,. I guarantee you that a lot of the time you can ask them to throw it in as a goodwill gesture.

I can’t help but see calling them vermin is very childish. They’re a broadband company like any other.
I have my reasons to have a strong dislike of the company specifically. It's their actions and behaviour that make me call them Vermin, and are why I've had to take them to ADR twice. I'm not sure why you'd be offended, are you Lutz Schüler?

I guess I am quite a childish person, but I insulted a corporate entity, you're making it personal. You're definitely not invited to my birthday party and I'm going to get my mum to tell your mum you were mean to me.

For what it's worth I also call Sky "Sly". Both names originally come from the cable/satellite hacking scene.

openreach ISP's and 2GB+ products
Please, if anyone is waiting for Opeanreach to do anything above 110/220 uploads, hell will freeze over first.

They will not sell symmetric, ever, because it eats into their EAD product and they make a very juicy markup on this. I'm more than happy to take a bet on this, I am that confident.

Agreed. I’m just talking about download as that’s all that consumers really ever compare and that’s mainly what ISPs advertise leaving the upload speed in tiny writing at the bottom.

Not so crazy when you used to paying £60 for 70mbit.

I think altnet pricing (which we dont know yet if is sustainable) has made this price seem unreasonable. But the takers of gig2 are probably going to be heavier users and bandwidth isnt free.

VM also historically overpriced on the open market, sadly one has to be prepared to haggle to get their proper pricing.

Has anyone actually been able to add the symmetrical speeds, or even upgrade to Gig2 yet?

So far, my contact with customer services is proving rather fruitless :-(

its not out yet, tomorrow is when you can buy 2gbps and add same download / upload to any plans on XGS only

£78( or £62 it used to be) for 1gig, so in theory £84 for 2gig isn't that bad of a deal, this is "before deals"

Have any of my fellow XGSPON area dwellers seen any sign of the Gig2 (and/or symmetric options) yet? I'm still not seeing them.

Tomorrow/Wednesday I had read it will be online

nothing yet, but I am on the product already, my account doesnt say anything and realspeed doesn't state any speed where as on 1gig it would show 1000x50 or something, my trial is coming to end on 15/3 so they should be in contact with me by then hopefully, min i want is 1000/1000, if 2gig is a good price ill go for that, but its just not worth it if it is too much, hardly anything can ultilse it online steam maxes out at like 140-150, and all the other game launchers are worse imo.

2Gbps now indeed available - not for me, I picked another postcode to find out if the 2Gbps option worked...

Oh and does neatly prove that once itis live I should be able to order 2Gbps symmetric too... noice.

I wonder if there's some sort of fundamental change within VMs network. I remember previously they wouldn't offer discounts etc. to people based on how high their usage, and especially uploaded a lot.

Its nice you can pick any plan and pay £6 more for same download/upload. so your not forced to get gig1 or gig2 for decent upload speeds.

This is what openreach should do.

Trying to add the upload speed add-on but can't update my package as the next page fails to load. Anybody else having an issue changing things?
