2mb homeworker pro -> 2mb Home Premier questions.

As stated in the other thread I have a 2mb Homeworker pro account but I need to know a few details before I commit to the new package..

My details:..
2Mb homeworker pro Account
Static IP
Domain Name option at £1 p/m (currently at month 8)
Monthly Contract

So my questions are as follows..
1. how much is the ACTUAL fee to swap accounts to Monthly Contract Version with VAT included.
2. Will there be any penalty's concerning my domain name (as i've not had it for 12 months yet)
3. What cant I do on the 2mb home that I can do on 2mb Homeworker (I dont work from home, I just wanted the extra bandwidth)
4. How will I pay for the Transfer? (you have my Credit Card details but I'm paying by Direct Debit)

In saying all this, I (and Probably a GOOD few others) will be migrating (to use a better term) to the 2mb Premier home package but need these points cleared up first..

From what I've read on ADSLguide.org.uk, the transfer costs £15. The features should be the same (not sure about the domain). I think the static IP is still standard. The actual difference in service isn't much, except that the Home version is meant to be based on BT's Home 2000 service, which is 50:1. Currently the homeworker is 20:1, so the only difference (and it won't even change until later this summer) is contention.

It's what I've been reading too, but there seems to be a LOT of confusion, in both Plusnets site and on ADSLguide too,

what I understand (so far) is

It will still be IPStream 2000 Office (20:1) because as you quite rightly pointed out, the IPStream 2000 Home wont be available until later this summer, and I saw a LOT of pricings, so I may as well grab the tiger by the tail and ask for Plusnets own confirmation on this to try and clear up some if not all the confusion (to me at least) :)

Mind you, that now puts another question into my mind.

5. when IPStream 2000 Home does becomes available, who's paying for the package to be regraded if I have been using the said package for a few months ?

Plusnet, you should have got your act together getting the FAQ's up quickly enough :p lol

From what I know, apparently the service is transferred to Home automatically at no charge. The only charge ATM is moving from Homeworker to Home.

posted the same questions in +nets forums.. see if I can get an answer there

Hi Triaxor,

Sorry for not picking this up, it's been a busy day so we are still catching up :)

1. how much is the ACTUAL fee to swap accounts to Monthly Contract Version with VAT included.

From Home Worker 2M to Broadband Home Premier 2M - £70.50

2. Will there be any penalty's concerning my domain name (as i've not had it for 12 months yet)

No

3. What cant I do on the 2mb home that I can do on 2mb Homeworker (I dont work from home, I just wanted the extra bandwidth)

Nothing. The Homeworker was simply aimed at people wanting to work from home, but previously there was obviously no Home 2M package.

4. How will I pay for the Transfer? (you have my Credit Card details but I'm paying by Direct Debit)

It will have to be by credit card, we can only take recurring payments from DD.

Outrageous

£70.50? I Was not asking for a cease/reprovide, The speed/contention is the same (2mb/20:1), how the heck can plusnet justify that cost

£70.50 in my eyes is a total ripoff :hrmph:

Hi there,

Basically, the new product is being marketed as a 50:1 product and when BT release the equivelent 50:1 2M product we are planning, at this time, to regrade existing customers. As such this regrade fee is being charged now rather than when the regrade goes through.

In addition to this, we would consider a move from Home Worker to Broadband Home a downgrade and as such the fee is slightly higher.

dont worry mate - anyone who signs up on a 1 month contract has to pay the £70.50 aswell - your not alone

I'd say...

Wouldn't that be like the same price for starting up a new account, and cancelling the previous - where £70.50 appears to be like the 'activation fee'

Hi Triaxor,

We are going to review the charges for moving between accounts based on the price change from BT but as we did not receive a great deal of notice on this (BT usually give us a few weeks notice before the prices go 'live', we got a few days in this case) and as such our backend systems need to be updated accordingly and this takes a bit of time.

We should get something out on this in 1-2 weeks, but I cannot be certain of timescales at this point.

woah, thats some admin fee, the regrade BT charge is £12.93 inc VAT, yet you charge £39.99???

I guess that makes up for the reduction in monthly fee - who knows..
