3 4g broadband availability

Hi, I have been using a payg mobile sim with 3 but at £35 a month for unlimited its a lot more than the monthly contracts. I noticed that the prices for a unlimited data sim was similar to the home broadband package and I'd get another router to try out so I tried the broadband coverage checker. It showed up as not available in my area, now I was thinking along the lines of the signal being available so as I know it is I used my parents postcode and it was available. I was then able to complete the purchase using my own address and postcode. Looking into it further I am seeing mentions of 3 possibility excluding postcodes for network capacity issues so am I likely to run into issues trying to use this? I haven't had any issues using a mobile sim in my router with 4 or 5 devices connected.

As you have found, they've limiting the sale of their home broadband product in areas where their network is already stretched to prevent things getting worse.

If you're already using it (which it sounds like you are, with a PAYG SIM) and the speeds/service you get are suitable for your needs and don't cause you any issues (which it sounds like it doesn't) then you should have no problems.

My area was being restricted for the last six months, although I have already been on it for the last three years, and has now become available again, still no 5G but the speed has now gone to 150Mbps most of the time instead of always hovering around 100Mbps.

I had ordered it, when restricted, for a neighbor and it worked fine.

Why not just get a Smarty sim which is a rolling monthly deal, you can stop at any time. Cheaper than your £35/month with Three. The norm is about £20/month or less.
If I send you a referral link we both get a free month, just remembered that. If you wish to try that send me a private message via this forum.
I am also in an area that Three have restricted. Been on it for a wee while now without any issues - except when they were doing upgrades locally and had to use 3G during the day at times.

I had to put in a fake postcode so I could order mine as there is officially no 5G coverage, just changed the address once I had it in the basket and went through the checkout process.

I can't order for my postcode either, but have been using a phone sim in a router for 3+ years and get 50mb download.

its £20 a month and i get a huawei router to try to see if its any better than what i have, contract is 12 months.

I've been using Smarty as our main home Internet connection for nearly two years now. And that's at an address where Three says 4G is not available.

Just noticed following one of the links, Three offering unlimited data on their mobile Internet "MiFi" packages. £11.50/month for 24 month contract. I can't see any reason why the SIM couldn't be moved into a router for a fixed installation.

Hi aesmith, it could be used in a router fine but it's just the usual three offer of half price for 6 months, then reverts to the full price.

You can get calls and texts included for a little cheaper via their sim only plan, if you don't want the MiFi.

The above offer is for data only.

It is cheaper to buy this B535 in this case, I worked out that it would be £24/mth if you got the phone sim and the 535 whereas three are selling it for just £16/mth.

Got the Huawei router and been using it over a week now. One thing I noticed is without the external antenna attached it is hopeless, the tp link I have is far superior using just the router but with the external antenna they're much the same. I suppose the benefit of the Huawei is you get cell Id and live signal readouts with either an app or lte h monitor.

Nice :D

Would you mind sharing a speed test result, I'm very interested in seeing how this sort of setup performs, your obviously quite a distance from the mast.
Speed test on previous answer, getting about 70-80mbps when busier and 100mbps when quiet. 15 miles straight line from mast.As you can see these seem to make a huge difference at this sort of distance.

Whoa, 15 miles.. a lot. Those are Iskra aerials, right?
