3000Mb service

The 3Gb plan is back on discount:

3000Mb £ 49/m for 24 months

Additionally the 3000Mb plan it's now part of plan grille rather than being hidden under a menu.

Hahaha, I don’t even max out my 1 Gbps service and may consider downgrading to 500 Mbps after my 24m contract ends.

Well in that case better news for you since they dropped the 300Mb plan and now have a 500Mb plan for less (£23/m vs £24/m for 24 months). I think this in preparation for OR/VM launching a ~2000Mb service as at some point the 3000Mb top tier will probably move to 5000Mb.

Has anyone else got the 3G package? I had mine installed last Thursday, but stupidly reset the router and I think it's wiped the configuration. It just doesn't connect to the Adtran modem anymore , no options to select what form of connectivity other than DHCP. Also appears that the SFP isn't enabled anymore as it says ethernet not connected.

Been waiting a week for an engineer to come and sort it out, I think they have a configuration file that they will import in the admin page

The modem is Technicolour FGA 5330
Router is Technicolor*

What model of the Adtran ONT do you have?

The 621X has a 10G RJ45 port on the ONT, you could connect a PC or laptop on that port and as long as you let it grab DCHP it should work. You may need to set the DNS on the interface but you could use 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1. I wouldn't recommend running a computer like that since you will have the public IP directly on your machine so any attacks will go directly to you. I did a few tests like that on my laptop and it worked fine.

@chunghim

My guess is DHCP is correct.

If there is a setting relating to IPv6 that may be worth investigating as it seems you need to have IPv6 on the WAN side to make a router connect to Community Fibre's ONT.

I'm not sure if this is correct...I'm on the 1Gb package and i have disabled IPv6 on the WAN side and run only IPv4 and mine seems to work perfectly well.

Although this may be different for the 3Gb package?

I do the same, IPv6 disabled and no issues connecting with my own router using IPv4.

Yes, when I had mine installed last year mid-Nov, they said they did not have the correct equipment and temporarily gave me one of their standard 1GB capable routers same as you have mentioned I believe, about 2 weeks later, I got a visit again with another specialist and installed a capable router, ended up with an ASUS T-AX89X for free unbranded and unregistered in their system, I don't know what you'll get, I think they stopped providing the ASUS to customers now, I might have been one of the lucky few to get it.

ah thanks for the reply, i got a free month because they didnt have the right equipment for now, if you dont mind what did they change? just the router? cheers

No, they changed both the router and ONT, as the original ONT they installed, didn't have 3Gb capability, they had to switch it to 10Gbit Sfp+10G ONT, future proof?

There have been hints of releasing 5Gbit connection soon.

I got 3 months free, as my installation was delayed for over 4months, it was initially meant to be done around late May, or early June, but they had issues with Openreach.

Ah okay thanks for the feedback, i got two months free one for messing up installation day and another for the wrong equipment hopefully they can resolve it quickly due to the mess ups

Ah didn't get notifications of replies.

The router is just horrid, there's no way to change anything and it's heavily locked down as just DHCP and no way to change anything, not even DNS servers. It just kept saying Ethernet not connected even though it was and if I connected directly to the ONT everything was working. My old Linksys AX4200 could connect fine too, so I assumed a configuration that was imported got wiped after the reset that I did to the router.

But it didn't appear to be the case, as the engineer eventually came round. All I could tell was that he was continuously swapping SFP modules over and over again (he had a bag full of them) It just felt like trial and error as the the ONT was swapped 2/3 times as well as the technicolour router numerous times as well until eventually it just worked.

Another bizarre observation was that the speedtest was only 3000/500, yet it was 3000/3000 to the ONT. I had my old linksys plugged into the technicolor and that was doing 900/900... After maybe 2 more rounds of swapping of routers, it finally is 3000/3000...

Bit weird that the connector on the fibre is blue, usually the stuff used in PON is APC which is green. Unless the 3Gb service isn't PON.

It was green when I had the huawei modem. the guy just swapped the cable from the box they attached to the wall.
