3G Only Sites on Three

Found another massive 3G only area today

Found the area after a complaint on Three Community

There's no way Three can upgrade all of these by the end of the year, it would be an expensive logistical nightmare.

Their relying the merger to be approved far too much, if it fails their going to fall back into the 2014-2020 state of things. They've already abandoned the network in central London and other legacy 4G areas, but now upgrading the 3G only sites would become the priority.

In the event of merger failure I'm expecting to see a lash-up of cheap B28/B3-only sites as direct replacements for 3G-only sites. Hutchinson clearly aren't interested in giving Three the money to throw 5G everywhere when their still so heavily reliant on 3G.

How is it 3G switch off if they leave 3G on :/
They are currently switching off 3G starting from Sheffield and Derby in the 3G switch off map. They are switching off 3G from masts that also carry 4G signals. Their switch off is not completed yet so most 4G masts still have 3G and in their 3G switch off map they have left the 3G only masts on

Don't think the customers at Saltford are happy today

There's one in Polbeth, West Lothian that I'm keeping my eye on. Wonder if they might just put a PoW in instead of upgrading it? The current site has EE 4G - would it just be a case of adding radios and connecting them?

A big one, at EH15 2QA, has come to mind. EE has 1, 3 (x2), 7 (x2), 20 plus some kind of NR on it, but Three just has 3G. I imagine the problem is something to do with site access being tricky, or the East Coast Main Line being next to it, but that doesn't explain why EE has managed. Surely they'll have to upgrade it soon!

Likely due to the merger, upgrades have slowed down dramatically, especially 5G upgrades

Highworth , EE host on 4G B3+20, No 3 coverage not even 3G

Never seen an ultra slimline with a microwave link before!

This the one by the garage? Have never had good signal on any network there except EE

Vodafone was fine as well until they turned 3G off

Yep, right next to it. I've had the same experience - Voda and O2 aren't too great, getting a weak signal usually from the mast to the south of West Calder.
