3GBPS Service

Just got my CF 3GB installed earlier today, but when I test the internet via Ethernet connection on my PC and I'm only getting 100MBPS up and down and so is my PS5. My current setup is using the technicolor connected to a TP link and a TP link next to my PC (which is used for PS5 and PC). How can I optimize speeds, and what do I need to do to get my PC/PS5 speeds a lot higher via Ethernet? Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

"Technicolor connected to a TP link" => What's this TP Link and why do you need it? Get rid of it and connect your devices directly to the Technicolor router. Do you have a 10Gbit switch?

The router is in a room far away from my gaming room :(, so it's hard/impossible to connect directly unless my family get ethernet cables installed in the walls to be direct connection to my devices, so the TP link is so to transfer Internet via the sockets in the wall, it should be able to carry more than 1GB speeds. There's multiple devices in my house that use LAN cable as well.

No, what's a 10Gbit switch? (I'm a noob in internet things)

This translates it will never be able to carry more than 1Gb speeds. A 10Gbit switch is this:

You need one of those because typically the router from the ISP has only 1x 10Gb port, the rest being 1Gb. So if you want your devices to access more than 1Gb speed you are going to need a switch to distribute it at 10Gb speeds.

I am afraid your current setup as it is it's never going to be able to get more than 1Gb if that. Powerline adapters are notorously slower than they claim to be. Without wires you will struggle to go over 1Gb.

There is however salvation for you. This kit will allow you to move the ONT (and therefore the router) to where you need the 3Gb speeds. You will still need a switch, or you could simply have 1 device at 3Gb, the others at 1Gb. Of course your PC will need a 10Gb card as well. The PS5 is 1Gb only. Here is the kit:

How it works:

If you can't do this then you might as well downgrade to 1Gb as you won't be able to utilise the speed you are paying for.

100Mbps is pretty good going for powerline adapters, depending on the distance and wiring age.

As mentioned, just because they have 1Gbps ethernet ports does not automatically mean 1Gbps between them! Even 1Gbps wired via ethernet is limited to 940Mbps due to overheads.

It sounds like you've bought a 3Gbps service except you don't have a single ethernet interface in your house that will run quicker than 1Gbps. If that is the case then it's probably worth using your cooling-off period to downgrade to 1Gbps.

Turns out they gave me the wrong modem, so this Thursday we'll see if I get faster speeds. I just want 500+ MBPS via the booster, if I still don't receive these speeds better to go down to 1Gb for now. I should've had the fibre optic cable installed next to my pc FFS lol

Appreciate the advice nonetheless guys!!

You're not getting a consistent 500Mbps (note, not MBps) through a powerline network.

I have the TP Link AV2000 powerline adapters and the best I get is around 400Mbps. Reliable, but definitely never exceeding 500Mbps.
the Linksys booster isn't the same as the TP link. But tbh 400Mbps is decent too considering. how much internet do you pay for that speed?
