Forgive me, I think we're talking at cross purposes here. I thought you were of the opinion that there isn't much sense in having a routable/public IP on a 4g connection but having read it again I think you're meaning there isn't sense in hosting a website on one.

Either way, in my eyes 4g/5g for most people is a compromise where a fixed landline service either isn't available or would be slower than mobile. That doesn't mean the benefits of a routable/public IP are any less though. I use one on my friends connection (Three) for remote access to HA and also to allow open NAT on his PS5, the latter of which is difficult/impossible on other mobile networks. If more networks offered Ipv6 this wouldn't be such an issue but alas adoption is poor.

As for my other 5g connectio, router is in a loft, 500m~ with some trees in the way. 4g signal isn't the best but 5g is excellent and it appears to be using 5g for upload also which obviously helps the speed results

Can't say I've ever seen that sort of result on any UK mobile network, even when stood inside the HQ of one of the four MNOs. You must be very lucky.

I've managed 1.2Gbit down 154Mbit up, but I was standing right next to the mast at the time...

The 1.4/122 result was just round the corner from it, maybe some signal reflections helped with MIMO, or maybe it was just less busy when I ran the first test.

Indeed, they are "public IPs" worth £40 a pop or god knows how much.

Ipv6 adoption has been such failure..
Nonsense.

IPv6 adoption continues at pace and works for millions of UK consumers without them needing to care at all. The only failure has been the glacial pace that some companies have adopted it at - but that is on them.
