4G External Aerial Kit with Router

I currently have a Vodafone 4G unlimited mobile broadband package, Im unlikely to change from Vodafone because they are the only provider with a decent signal.

My current setup is: I have my sim card inserted in a router in a bedroom on a window cill with direct line of sight to the 4G.

The front walls of the house are built in traditional stone and the reception inside is not good so have have a wifi from the router around the house via wifi repeaters. This seems to work quite well.

I now have a need to move the setup to another part of the building and am looking for a 4G external aerial kit with router that I can mount the aerial on the front of the building with direct line of sight with the 4G mast (as my current setup uses).

Has anyone any suggestions as to what kit would be suitable or complaies that are reliable and based in the UK

Can you share your thinking around this?

It can help to separate your WiFi needs (LAN) from your broadband needs (WAN).
Your router can be set up to only do WAN, in which case you position it where you can get the best signal.

You than have a second router which does your LAN, which can be anywhere, and you connect the two routers with an ethernet cable. This makes for a very flexible set-up.
In fact you can have wired wifi access points like TP-link Omada connected to the second router, which would blast your entire premises with 5 bars of WiFi.

Huwawei B535 is a decent 4G router that would support external antennae. One thing to note is that 5G routers do not work with external antennae - too many losses on the coax. If you have a 5G router with external antennae ports, using them will turn your router into a 4G router.

O'h ... lol, the science and experience must all be wrong then (but cavats relating to quality and length of coax / YMMV do of course apply)

Happy to be corrected, I would immediately purchase any 5G router capable of external antenna use. Ideally 5m cable run but might be able to get it down to 2m.

However, when I visited this subject several times over the last two years, almost everyone, including many long standing members on this forum, said that it was not possible, no-one sold such a thing, and if you DIY then the battle with losses would make it unviable.

If that has changed, then that's wonderful. Can you post your recommendations?

The $1000000 question ... but its a case of 1. doing some maths, in that antenna db gain less cable loss per meter & as you said (keeping the run as short as possible) but 2. and this is where the maths succumbs to the real world.... every tower, every location, and every antenna is a suck it and see situation (unless you have a good line of sight) I have found situations where eternal have given worse results but better in poor reception conditions (boosting the 4G which is a requirement to access NSA 5G) .. my best advice would be to consider the manufacturer 'poynting' and for good (cough) reasons, if in doubt of the suitability of a product, buy from Amazon

My final recommendation is the Spitz AX (GL-X3000) 5G NR
