4g Home broadband

I am thinking of going with 3 for their unlimited 4 G home broadband as Sky have let me down and broadband through the traditional routes is no longer viable.
3 tell me that 4G is strong in my area but we struggle to get any mobile reception with any supplier in our rural location. 3 supply a Huawei 311 router. If it doesnt pick up the 4G signal can an external aerial be connected to it and if so can anyone recommend a decent model.
Anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

It does appear to have an external LTE antenna mount.

I used Three HomeFi (data only plan) for a year, but I've now swapped to using a standard Three AYCE phone SIM (a Black Friday deal). I use an externally mounted MikroTik SXT LTE Kit, which gets a good signal and gives a rock-solid connection - better than the Huawei 310 router I had previously. The MikroTik costs twice as much as an external antenna, but is a very capable 4G router. It is powered using PoE so you only need the single ethernet cable to it.
