4G Router Suggestions

Highly doubt you're getting B32 from a separate LTE site...
Maybe but it appears that is so:

So I've popped the NR5103E out again and there's a definitive benefit to the extra B1 carrier, that much I'm certain of.

So now I'm leaning more towards the RBM11G and perhaps a FM150AE or RM520N-GL

any one currently use either of these models?

@meritez, do the Mikrotik boards support IP passthrough?

@dazmatic I've not found anyone using the fm150ae apart from a post on whirlpool rooter thread about not being able to choose bands and lockups.

IP pass through

Fibocom have released the FM160 and the FG650.

The 650 is a unisoc modem, like in the vn007+

Looks like it'll be a RM502Q-AE then - would have to be the more expensive of the 2, obviously.

It's a tonne of money to drop on a 4G only service - just because there are so few modems out there that have combines 4G/5G interfaces that support this particular band combination, whilst supporting passthrough, band locking and possibly cell locking?

RM500Q-GL supports it but then got to find one.

That's cheap for a LTE cat16 5g modem
Yeah - I'm actually quite tempted.
I had hoped that NR5103E given it's second chance might impress, but the fact that the mast prefers steering towards B1 primary of which the upload is not that great plus even when using B3 as primary carrier, the upload is still pants. Can only think it's a firmware issue?

I think I'll still stick with the return and use the funds to fund one of those RM500Qs and an RBM11G and accessories.

Ok... I bought it. Hopefully I won't get a 🍋

Recommendation for a motherboard? I don't need WiFi so thinking RBM11G. Only one ethernet though, so when passthrough enabled, can I still access to configure it?

So, my RBM11G has now turned up and I've been having a play with it this evening.

Certainly bitten off more than I can chew with this one - massive learning curve here and this is even before my RM500Q-GL turns up.

@meritez - don't be surprised if I start tagging you in for help ;)

I've chucked in an old Intel 7265 wifi card for shits - no idea if it's listed to work. It clearly doesn't though, but it's all I've got spare to test with for now.

ROS doesn't support intel - typical

@dazmatic almost no intel WiFi cards support ap mode:

I remember that feeling.

Now I have a shelf full of Mikrotik boxes.
I need a 4g module to play with until mine turns up.

Got a feeling I've been short changed as the (package) tracking doesn't work yet but we'll see.

GPS tracking? I thought the GPS chip was on the 4G modem, not the board.
Parcel tracking 🧐

Although, I may have accidentally just bought an RBM33G - to now go alongside the RBM11G.

Someone listed the 33G on ebay as new, so I chucked a cheeky offer of £30 in thinking it'd be a plss take and not accept. They accepted.

So now, I'm going to be 2 Mikrotik routers in and not a single 4G Module.

Anyone got any experience using the EM120R GL modules? Trying to get CA aggregation feature list for it as there's a few on ebay going cheap.

Scratch that - Lenovo branded means it'll be FCC locked and non functional - bullet dodged.

So it would appear that there are very, very few modem modules that support the 3CA combination of 3+1+32.

Other than RM500Q & RM502Q there aren't any others that I can find that with those combinations and within a Mikrotik board.

There's obviously several chipsets that do, but actual modules, whether PCIE or M.2, there is just those 2 that I can find at least.

FM160 for reasonable price.
