I’m in a rural area where the fibre speed is pretty rubbish (30mbps). We’re a one-off new build up a small private drive, without a BT landline and owing to getting LTE fast 4G, I went with an EE unlimited data sim and a HUAWEI modem. We average 50-60mbps, but two of my kids have ordered new digital version games consoles. I’m worried about potential game downloads of 100GB x two consoles.
Yesterday I had an Openreach contractor unexpectedly come to my house and explained a new build FTTP project is coming to my postcode. He asked me if I’d be interested and did a rough site survey. What are the lead times for these things getting done ? If I was to get FTTC installed to help out short term, on the additional bandwidth required for the consoles, am I likely to be able to switch mid-contract once the FTTP service goes live? Thanks, Matt.
