5G CPE MC888 looks a beast

Was the conclusion that these are a good buy. The eBay price is not frightening if they are IMHO

Only launched in January:
featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon SDX62 chip

That's very tempting - do we know which carrier it would be associated with? eternalcommunications tend to resell carrier-provided devices.

Would love to find out if it supports cell locking 👀

Brought it and it has arrived today

I don't see any carrier branding anywhere so far. But on the UI the software version does mention nordic1? I assume this is just the region software

Hi iluvsnowlc, hope the antenna sockets have been improved from the MC801A, as you may or may not know, the antenna sockets on that router break off if you look at them the wrong way, very delicate.

Hopefully this will be better, if you don't intend on antenna experimenting it won't matter of course, but just thought I'd mention it.

Have fun, and we all look forward to seeing how you get on with it. :giggle:

Look forward to how you get on with this, looking to upgrade the old Huawei 5G house router by the Autumn ready for Winter.

Keep us posted.

Thanks @iluvsnowlc, have you tried the Javascript "trick" with it?

The web UI looks identical to the MC801a. I wonder if one would get to see any improvement over that model or not.

They've managed to fix this issue by completely removing the antenna sockets.

Can you tell me the "trick" and how to do it? I'll post some more screenshots of the menus when I have time later

I take it is from the Ebay link you posted, what grade did you go for?, it looks like there was a sticker of some sort on the side that has been removed.

Is there an option in the menu to turn UPNP on/off

Cheers.

I wish I could just borrow one to test against the mc801a and check whether my Python library works with it.
