5G Cpe pro unlocked device

Does Huawei mobile 5G hotspot support im thinking of getting that its cheap
The one you linked to doesn't support the up and coming new5g bands.
Also, no Ethernet support, only wifi. Might still be a solution.. but so would an actual 5G phone, though these tend to be more expensive.

But its basically "just" a radio receiver/transmitter isn't it? Why is that so difficult and expensive to implement a standard set of bands all 4g and 5g use, so we don't get a situation where every month newer installs require different routers?
building something that would try handle any possibility would be crazy to do - the investment in development would far outweigh the return and take a great deal of time - it doesn't make business sense to do this.
much better to deliver a minimum viable product now that would cover the largest set (of countries/providers) quickly and get a product into the market - after all that's what the competitors would do.

then further down the line when countries/providers have decided what they'll use, re-analyse the landscape and plan/develop new products to meet the changes and be applicable to a wider set of scenarios.

I'm guessing it's the same as the PC industry - better parts = higher price. It is more cost effective for the operator to buy what is ok at the time, then upgrade it in the future. O2 and Vodafone have been known to do this especially, buying bulk parts from the likes of Huawei and Kathrein.

Hm, @JitteryPinger can you charge and tether at the same time?

No Idea about JPs one. But mine lets me do that. Then again it also has two USB-C ports :D (Asus ROG phone 3, actually it's a sweet phone, £420, 16GB ram, 144Hz AMOLED display, CAT20, 5G, 8 cores. and less than half the price of a Samsung S21) but I can use one USB-C cable for power and tethering. I use the second port for alt-mode (USB-C to HDMI)

Huawei are selling their 5G Mobile Broadband router (not the home CPE one, it's portable with a battery) on their official shopping site for around 200 pounds. I thought it'd be cheaper but if you can find a supplier it may be useful to someone.

I was under the impression its greyed out until you put a different sim in the router.
Three network saying it will be greyed out when they issue the unlock code it wont be greyed out when you try diffrent network sim in it then you can input the code in.

Just waiting for the email to see if it works just got a feeling this wont work.

God, you don't listen do you. It is not HEAVILY locked, it is PERMANENTLY LOCKED. When it is greyed out, it is greyed out FOR GOOD. There is no way around it and there is no way to reverse the effects and there is ultimately no way to unlock it.

@Bubblesthefish6 is right @zakir1988, Three don't intend for these devices to be used on any network but their own, the fact that Three has let you keep the device just means they don't have need for them but having them out in the customers hands is useful to them when they can only be used on their network.

At best it will be usable with Smarty or ID Mobile, but that's a best case scenario.

Good news is somebody might be interested in purchasing it from you for use on Three :)

Though I don't see them on eBay for the reasons highlighted above.
CeX will take it, i've seen them in there before. But they give bad prices so it it doesn't go on ebay, its your last resort.

You speak to Three network they told me when the code is sent you are able to unlock it the greyed out section wont be greyed out as they have activated the device to be unlocked as I provided the all the details they need.

Have you ever tried unlocking Threes 5G cpe pro probably Im the first person to do this. Im just shearing my experience .

Three network are adament it can be unlocked even Huawei say network not suppose to do that to customer as you own the router out right after you finished your contract I was with Three broadband for over 1 year then moved over to Three network when it merged.

I even told them I read on forums that customers posted who have finished there 5G broadband contract on Three network have to send the device back they told me no you dont send device back as you own it out right it maybe I was on Three 5G broadband longer then other customers.

What Huawei told me when you get unlock code and cant input it then send us the Three network email with all the unlock code details over then our engineers can have a look at the device what it can be done.

I will push Three network if they keep saying it can be unlocked and the unlock code cant be typed in.

If they cant help i will gather all evidence and send it over to Huawei as the device is still in warranty.

What makes you say that its 100% locked until you tried to pursue all avenues.

If Three cant unlock it I can just send to Huawei just waiting for the unlock code.
