Hey guys i have bought 5G antena for zte mc801a router from 3three. And i cant find anythwere in the options to see option to enable antenna. Because at the moment i dont see any increase in speed. Any help would be great.
Trying to use 192.168.0.1/index.html#ant_switch. It just drops me in to the home page.

Enable the hidden menus as per the main MC801A thread. It's around page 2 and links to a Youtube video by an Italian guy who goes by the name "miononno". He has written a java script which add all sorts of useful things such as cell locking and antenna settings. The video speech is Italian but you can turn on subtitles then enable English for a rough translation.
If you're lucky the antenna switch will work, but it appears to be pot luck depending on the flavour of firmware and hardware.

Javascript it no longer works either.. three has disabled the page or removed it in the b12 firmware..

Did you fire off an email to Three already? If they supplied the router, they should support it for something simple like attaching antennas, or point you to ask the manufacturer.

Three refused to do anything when I contacted them. They simply said that they will end my contract with no early termination fee as the service wasn't acceptable without being able to use the external antenna.

I then placed another order which meant they sent the newer Zyxel NR5103 router. Also, it meant I had the 6 months at half price again and Quidco cashback tracked.

It's quite a disappointing reply that Three won't support the hardware they supply on even such a basic feature. On the other hand, it is good that they offer to release you from contract.

I wasn't aware at the time that existing customers could sign up to a second Three contract and count as a new customer, otherwise I might have stayed with them instead of moving to EE when Three wouldn't match an offer I saw online for new customers (this was about 18 months ago).

That's interesting as the Three shop I signed up in suggested I use external antennas in order that I could have the router somewhere else in the house (as opposed to in the loft). No mention of how to switch on access to the external antenna sockets. I'll have to drop again in and ask...!

This YouTuber says external antennas do work and people have been using the wrong antennas. Read the comments.

@benparker which comments, as the YouTuber who has posted the video confirms they use the Bluespot Mini which is n78 only, and the mc801a is more capable than that.

He's stuck the External Cables on upside down, if he wants to feed the cables under a door, then he will now need to put the Router Upside down or place the Router on its side.

The Router needs to be on or near a Window Ledge so it can pick up 4G and 5G (that are not n78) Bands using the Internal Antennas.

Or maybe the You Tuber is predicting the outcome of all this and is just getting the Router in place to use as a Door Stop anytime soon.

If he's relying on the antennas, why would it need to be next to the window (sweet spot). I guess for 4g it would.

The External Antenna Ports only support 5G n78 Band (in the UK), so any other 5G Bands ie, n28, 1, 3, 7, 8, 20 etc and All of the 4G Bands will only work on the Internal Antennas.
