Just sorting some tin'ternet access for my sister at university. They live in a UK Online LLU exchange area so i'm looking at the 8mb service as 4 of them will share the connection. Do you have to take UKO telephone service or can you keep your calls going through BT, if you get where im coming from.

UKOnline as far as I know are a partial unbundle, ie, the supply you with UPTO 8Mb LLUed R/ADSL, and to add, 24Mb ADSL2+ is coming soon I hear (Please note this UPTO part as it depends on quality of your line, length, SNR, Atten etc wether you will get 8 or 24Mb or not) but BT keep the line for the Phone, whereas my ISP Bulldog are FULL unbundle, they supply both R/ADSL (Rumour is 24Mb is coming soon to Bulldog too) and Telephony..

hope that makes sense, lol :)

Bear in mind, that there is a one year contract on all their products, so make sure your sister isnt left paying for the internet after shes' left. But that shouldnt be for a few years all things going well.

All that needs doing on ukonlines part is activating your line.

Yeh she has said she will be staying for 2 years so hopefully that should be fine. A 12 month contract seems the only way to escape £70 odd startup charges. All they will be doing is surfing etc etc so hopefully UKO will be fine.
