A 3 Pole of Wonder

@PB2000
I managed to find the new Girvan PoW PB2000, it's in Wreck Road.

It was whirring away, but no connections to it, and nothing was mapped on Cellmapper. :(

They are so much tidier looking without the wrap around cabinet. (y)

I did find a new eNB a little North of Maidens, but that's too far away I'm sure.🤷‍♂️

I'll try another visit soon, now I know where it is. :giggle:
Yeah you need to the first to add it to cellmapper. I like how it's right next to the primary school. If you think about all planning apps that have been rejected for being even a few hundred metres from a school. The councils up here don't seem to care. Which is a good thing I guess.

Yes indeedy, I always think of the PoW in Castlepark Circle in Irvine, just right across the road from Castlepark Primary School. :giggle:

Also the unstarted PoW in Ardrossan, right outside Ardrossan Academy. :)

Meant to say @PB2000 it has both EE and Three on the label so it might be a dual PoW, if they haven't fallen out. :giggle:

Only other local dual PoW I know is the older one in Castlepark Circle in Irvine, all the others are exclusively Three.:)

Weirdly, all the local Three only PoWs have both listed on them.
Oh I'm sure all the local ones here are just three labels Bubbles, not sure about the dual one though, will see if it has a label on it next visit. :)

I found the Ardrossan PoW in Stanley Road label, no mention of EE.
It might not mean anything though, who knows. 🤷‍♂️ :giggle:
Just noticed It actually says Dalry Road underneath it. :rolleyes:

Hi @PB2000 went a traditional Sunday trip to Girvan today because it was sunny, as that's where you're supposed to go when it's sunny, either Ayr, Saltcoats, Ardrossan, Prestwick, Largs or Girvan. :giggle:

Just keeping you up to date that the Girvan PoW was still whirring away but still not broadcasting anything, bit strange if you ask me, wonder why it's all powered up like that.:unsure:🤷‍♂️

Wish I hadn't bothered now, as my bag of chips lunch was £3.60, got tons though, and boy were they good, lashings of salt 'n' vinegar and tomato sauce.😋

I know you didn't want to know that, but these important things have to be shared.😁

That's the best bit I read here.

I am now hungry.

I didn't actually think it was that sunny today but no rain so that's a bonus. Glad you enjoyed your chips though.

Off to Millport tomorrow so I'll be sure to run some speed tests with my new iPhone 16 Pro.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky in Girvan.☀️
Enjoy Millport tomorrow, I haven't been over there for years.:rolleyes:

@PB2000
Meant to say to you that the PoW due to be erected in Troon (Deveron Road) between the 9th and 17th of October, has now been removed from the Scottish Roadworks website as of yesterday.

Don't know if its been totally scrapped or just postponed, but disappointed to see that. :(

3 seems to overpromise when it comes to activating or building poles, in my area theres 2 EE MBNL poles that they haven't added on and one PoW not built for a year since granted 😫

Yes there's another spot in Ardrossan which was approved around a year and a half ago for a PoW and not a peep has happened. :(

Pole of Winter Wonder
Around May I had trouble with 5G on my ZTE MC888, first intermittent then gone altogether. Firmware updates in June & July got my 5G back again but I found N78 from the POW was very poor with -120dbm strength and an SINR which was rarely a positive number. This caused intermittent signal on my ZTE as it constantly selected N78 over a much stronger N1 from my other local mast. I had to turn N78 band off on the ZTE and live with N1 and speeds around 120 to 140 most of the time. I tried N78 a couple of times over the next 2 or 3 months with no improvement until this week.
I was looking at the bare trees outside and decided to try N78 again, signal strength still not brilliant at around -110dbm but the SINR was much better at between +7 & +16 and mostly in double figures. The speeds are up over 300 again.
So it looks like will have use of the POW but only until the trees grow their foliage in the spring.
