a good idea for u all

( virgin users refer to bottom of the page... got a viruse refer to bottom of the page)

as we all know a firwall is good and virus protction better.

I would pay for virus protection but here are some free bees.

Vexira are a good thing, they update as and when ( a few times a day)nice and simple and were doing free trials.

I found that zonealarm and sygate firewalls work well together, giving you a dual looping fire wall, theres little user input, just install and up zones secuirty setting. sysgate non to do!

I also got this thing call proport which lock ports and tell you all about your conections which is worth while.

secondly visual zone is a plug in to zonealarms and is also free. it offeres look up and details on who attack and what it was bla bla.

AVG anti virus os also good, i have never realy had viruses ( just one caught with avast32) but sadly avast isnt on access, on access is there when you need it so it covers downloads and scanns mor or less all the time so in that way it good avg needs to have manual scans. the update is with out restart, i think most are.

I am how ever looking for a free good AV software which offeres on access scanning.

( virgin )
allthough they say its us its not, its just a easy way to get rid of you.

( got a virus )
on web attack dot com there is free ware and antivirus tools which can remove a certain viruse you have as well as free scanners.

I wouldn't generally recommend using zonealarm free and sygate together.
(I sometimes required sygates advanced features while packet sniffing suspect spyware apps and couldn't be bothered to uninstall ZA)

When I have done so, on occassion the two firewalls have interfered with each other preventing anything accessing the net - required a rebooting to get it working. I also noted that although ZA was set to prompt before allowing ANY app internet access sometimes due to sygate this feature would be bypassed.

I also don't see any great advantage in doing so. Although my brother uses the XP firewall (which doesn't seem to conflict with other firewalls) to provide "stealth" while using ICS and Kerio 2.15.

I'm mainly using the free version of Zonealarm pro which comes with the free EZ armor package. This has better security than ZAF thanks to advanced program/component control, it also supports ICS.
