Adobe now pushing McAffee "malware"

As in unwanted tat that downloads with the latest flash update, installs without asking and takes a reboot to uninstall

If Adobe want people to trust them, they have to stop doing this; it is bad enough trying to sneak Chrome or a toolbar on, but at least with those you have the option not to install (if you are alert enough).

l just updated flash myself, but l wasnt forced.. maybe a browser extension is hiding the tick button? tho l do admit the page to update has completely changed.

Captain, did it download as part of your existing flash installs semi-automatic update process or do you mean the one you get directly from adobe's website for a fresh install?

Some companies have a seriously overinflated view of how important we think their products are. Sneaking in unwanted bloatware adds insult to injury. Hopefully we won't have to put up with Flash for much longer.

With the Adobe update I had the choice to download it or untick for it to not download.. I unticked then proceeded to update Adob no problems.

I downloaded the package from the Adobe website after a pop-up said there was a new version available, at no point did it say it included the McAffee crud and the file name gave no clues, when I went to install the flash update it installed the McAffee program in parallel, then wouldnt uninstall without rebooting first.

That is how I updated this week the middle section of the gray had two small white tick boxes one was for McAffee the other Terms and conditions both ticked by default. I always read everything before I click to continue.

indeed, while l do admit l skim over T&Cs for some things l always make sure l note tick boxes and what they are asking me for.

Kits, was the grey box on the adobe website, or did it pop up when you ran the installer?? I got nothing, it just installed!! (On my XP box).
I ALWAYS check for stupid extras from Adobe, because they are always trying to load something else (usually Chrome).

It was on the website when I clicked to upate the page opened with a large grey box split into 3 panels middle had two tick boxes already ticked I just unticked the McAffee one then continued. The popup box just showed Adobe downloading.

heres a thought, did you have something like noscript active? its possible an addon like that blocked the box.

Yes, I do use NoScript, but since I didnt click on their T&C's should I still be allowed to use it???

TBH, I've not had this issue before, every other website manages to get a download dialogue box up - even with NS enabled.

Adobe are pants.

l dont actually remember seeing a tickbox for T&Cs just mcafee.

Like I said both boxes were ticked by default I only unticked the McAffee
