Adsl cease on the line

Ok, heres the situation.

I have moved house.

At my old place, I had eclipse for many years. I cancelled them and got this in response:

Your cancellation has been processed and written confirmation will be sent to you promptly.

Services requested to be closed - ADSL xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxx@adsl.eclipse.co.uk

Date of Closure - 25/11/07

A pro rata credit/invoice may have been raised and will be posted to you shortly. Please be aware at the end of your cancellation period your service will cease. If you require a MAC code please request this at least 5 working days prior to the date of closure.

My new ISP I contacted today told me this:

Thanks for your order.
At the moment there is a previous adsl service being ceased off on your
line. This is due to complete on the 6th of November.

I dont spose theres anything I can do to remove the tag on my line?

While its a new line, I am taking my number with me (and want to keep it), so obviously the tag is linked to the number, not the actual line.

Can the new ISP go ahead anyway? Is there anything I can say to eclipse to speed the removal of the marker?

Not a biggie, but I could really do with broadband at home at the moment, and no I dont have any dialup modems left ;)

If you are taking the number with you, could it be that BT's databases haven't updated yet, so it is reporting the cease on the old line?

we had a similar thing last we moved house, a few days after i asked for the cancellation on the old line the tag was updated and i could order for the new line well in advance of the cease on the old one (hope that makes sense).

Be careful though. I have come across a situation where BT's system's have not updated properly and when a customer has moved their number the cease completed after the new provision, so broadband had to be ordered again!!

does that make sense?

Yep. Which is what I was a bit worried about, and why I didnt order it sooner. In theory its been done, but BT have to fix my line as theres a problem. Fixed yesterday, but back off last night. Engineer due today, and apperently its an outside fault which means they dont need access.

That's what happened with me in the same situation.

As soon as the line was activated (for calls) I tried signing up with my new ISP. It wouldn't let me becuase there was already ADSL on the line according to BTs database.

It took about 3 days for it to clear, then I was free to sign up...

Yeah I generally find after a cease has completed on the BTW systems it can take another three days before a new service can be ordered.
